Jon an Kate plus 8 ?

Does anyone know where they get those little bags that they clip on the carseats? They fill them with cereal I think. I only have 2 kids and I think they would be handy for car seats or strollers.

I beg to differ. Doing the procedure that she did she knew multiples were a very real possibility. So yes, she CHOSE 6 babies.

ITA! Since IVF is not covered by most insurance in the US and most parents pay out of pocket, many try to get as much 'bang for the buck' as they can with each transfer, transferring as many zygotes as they can each time. This results in a high risk of high level multiples, which parents are aware of at transfer. In other countries (most notibly in Europe) where IVF is covered, patients are much more conservative about the number of zygotes they choose to implant per procedure, because they know if it does not stick, they can try again. Therefore you don't get as many high level multiples. So yes, she did make a choice to open herself up to the possiblity of high level multiples.

Personally, in the few episodes of the show I have watched she just seems nasty and constantly snapping at her husband and anyone else around. I don't see why her husband stays with her. That's just me though.

I too applaud her for not reducing the babies because I agree with her on that but I don't think she is superwoman and she gets more help than anyone I have ever met and yet she STILL complains. Yes none of us are all sunshine and roses everyday but she is a complainer. Be grateful for what you have and enjoy it without constantly trying to get more "stuff". JMHO.

Everyone who does ivf knows there is a chance of multiples. But for many, it is their only chance of getting pregnant. I watch this show faithfully and I have never heard her moan about having 6 kids or begging for free stuff.

I think if any of us had our lives broadcast on tv, we wouldn't exactly come off smelling like a rose. If I had that many kids, I would be pulling my hair out, so I can empathize with her situation. I personally like that she has flaws, it shows she is real. If they showed someone just prancing about their day with 8 screaming kids, I would not watch it.

If you don't like her then don't watch the show. She is trying the best she can. A lot of you moms probably have family nearby that help with your kids. They don't. So just because they have some outside help, I don't think she is living the high life. I think I see 4 regular helpers. Nana Janet, Aunt Jody, Carla, and the nanny she hired which you don't ever see.

I hate to see other mothers tear mothers down. We all have our own struggles with motherhood and to judge someone else is just petty. What kind of example does that teach our children?

I'm pretty sure Kate mentioned that the little bags came with some of the dresses for the girls and they just started using them for cereal bags. They probably just attached some kind of clip to it like those pacifier clips you can get.

I think most people are referring to her speaking engagements, internet sites and people that know her who have said she has a sort of entitlement attitude. I watch the show all the time too and I don't remember her complaining anymore than most moms or asking for a hand out. However, I have read speeches of hers, seen on internet sites things people who have known her have said and it seems she expects help just because. I don't want to judge and I do enjoy the show and her kids are beautiful. No one is perfect and I won't judge their parenting. However, I do feel she chose this life and she is very fortunate to have all the help she gets.

Guys I just started this to find a trash can not to start a debate. :rotfl:

Did you find the trash can yet? :rotfl:

They have them at Costco again (for awhile they were gone) and Bed Bath and Beyond has a bunch! I want one like that too, but I want one that is smart enough that it won't open for a 2 year old. ;)

No trash can yet :rotfl:

I tried to email the show but their mailbox is full LOL.

I have been trying to find the perfect trash can forever. I am sick of the plastic kind. My fear with the sensor ones is the cats will get it open. They open doors I am sure they can figure that out too:confused3

I understand that as I know many people who are/were struggling with infertility. They would take 6 kids in a heartbeat. She constantly goes on and on about how hard it is since afterall she has 6+2. Well lots of people have large families. I get having a stinky day and feeling overrun by the kids etc., but more often she is complaining rather than enjoying them. That is sad to me.

Of course nobody would come off like Suzy Sunshine. I would never expect them to. (unless of course you are Michelle Duggar!:rotfl: ) But she put them out there on tv. She does speak in a very condescening way all the time to her husband. Even when they went out to dinner alone I thought she was so rude to him.

Just a little FYI- I don't have any family nearby who can help. I also don't have neighbors/volunteers at my disposal either. So most Moms have nowhere near the help that she has and they manage. Even the ones who have large families. I used to like her show but more and more it just showcases her being mean. In all fairness I think they edit her that way on purpose and I am sure she has some really nice qualities. I am also sure she is doing the best she knows how as I imagine we all are. I just don't like hearing her say that she deserves more help because after all "she has 8 kids". And yes- she did say that in her local paper. Google it and you will see.
I hate to see other mothers tear mothers down. We all have our own struggles with motherhood and to judge someone else is just petty. What kind of example does that teach our children?

Well I don't sit around with the kids discussing the show. We do however love watching the shows with families who have 10+ kids and they are real families with no help. We think it is so neat to see how they do things and how much they love each other. I am sure Jon and Kate love each other and the kids. That I do not doubt- but she comes off as snobby and a bit mean. It has nothing to do with her parenting. It is her personality.

Does anyone know where they got their triple umbrella strollers? I e-mailed the show a couple of weeks ago but haven't gotten a response. We have a 2 yr old and 3 month old twins so we'd LOVE to have a triple stroller. I've seen the front/back triples, but I'd much rather have an umbrella...

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I found this link for you regarding someone else inquiring about the Chicco triple stroller they saw on Jon & Kate + 8. It was specially made for Jon & Kate as a gift. So, it is NOT available to "normal folks". Sorry. Chicco only makes single and double strollers. We have the single one and love it. Maybe, you could get a single and double Chicco umbrella stroller and then use a stroller connector/attachment to make it a triple stroller?

I personally love the show and relate to it well (we had 4 kids under the age of 5 at one point!) I think all the corporate sponsorships are great- who wouldn't love to reoutfit their home courtesy of Ikea or get toys for free? I love the way she ties in the companies products..."this Rose Petal Cottage is so age appropriate for them, they just love it!" and all her shirts that say "So Cool Mom" are $48.00 each according to the website! She wears a different color T each episode and I think it's funny that they don't mention it. Obviously, when they go on "field trips" to American Girl NYC, Disney, Dutch WOnderland, Hershey, etc. they are comped for showing the parks as advertising. It reminds me of the Truman Show movie- where the wife was always trying to tie in the sponsors by talking to the camera about how great the coffee is! Maybe I can get a corporate sponsorship for my family for our next Disney trip ;) We'll gladly wear your companies logo! (Of course, with no camera crews following us around, they'd get alot less exposure!

I loved when one of the boys pulled off a knob on the girls new bedroom furniture and she went back and forth to their rooms asking about it. I've went on rants like that too....so I was glad to see her being so human. While she does nip at Jon a lot, he has his days too. And remember, edited for television! I think they are great, and much more realistic then many of those multiple shows. I like the other ones too, that start with a C? They seem realistic (even said on another board that the crew was with them all the time and they wouldn't do it again unless they had more to offer)...which I thought was true. The Duggars make me feel inadequate LOL.

This was my FAVORITE moment EVER...she asked the girls who did it and they all shout "IT was a BOY!!!" So she stomps into the boy's room, asks who did it...they all look at each other and then Aaden says very resolutely "Nobody did it"...:rotfl2:

Those boys came together as a crew and decided they weren't going to rat anyone out!

I love this show. For some reason it actually makes me want to have kids...they are as real a family as I've ever seen. Kate freaks out, she's controlling and obsessive. She isn't always nice to her husband...he isn't always nice to her. But they are in it together. I love it. My husband has commented before that I like the show b/c I'm a lot like Kate...thanks... ;)

I will say that they are going to have a big old problem with their Mady if they don't get a handle on her attitude! That child rolls her eyes more than I have ever seen a child do...oh lord it makes me anxious. My mom would have sent my eyeballs rolling across the floor had I EVER rolled my eyes and talked back the way Mady does! MY mom actually called me after their birthday episode and said "Did you SEE the way that child stomped into the house and kicked those balloons?" Kate just said "She needs alone time...she really IS grateful for all the decorations..." Ummmm...yeah...being grouchy is fine. Being totally disrespectful to everyone around you is NOT. Then again...with 8 kids I'm sure that Mady's high strung attitude is the least of their worries!:lmao:

did I get off on a tangent?

I love the show. Just LOVE It!!!

The Duggars freak me out...and amaze me...that many kids and they aren't in debt. Wow.

You are so right about the Truman Show thing. :lmao: Jon and Kate are the real version, except they all know they are on the show.

Did anyone see them on Oprah yesterday?? They seemed much softer and kinder to each other. She of course did all the talking but they really seemed a united team.

But then again it was clear it was Oprah's show and Oprah is always in charge. On Kate's show Kate is in charge, maybe that was the difference of why she seemed softer and not so bossy.

That was my thought exactly. Oprah commands attention and Kate is use to being in charge. It was very weird to watch Kate being so "warm and mellow". Then again, she did do all the talking and poor Jon was doing his best finding shoes and wrangling kids. Kate must have said three times, look at you with your shoes off to the child with one shoe on. Jon jumped to attention and was finding the shoe and putting it on the child. One thing I have learned in life, you let others treat you the way they treat you. Kate needs a subserviant man or the relationship wouldn't work. They truly are a match made it heaven couple. It works for them and they seem happy. I wish them all the best, but keep Jon in my prayers. :lmao:

Yes, I saw them too and really enjoyed seeing them from a little different perspective. Kate explained to Oprah that one of the reasons they did the show was out of feeling misunderstood and hinted a bit at the whole "small town syndrome" and people wanting a "peek in the windows." I applaud them for having the courage to put themselves out there and say "You know what? Why don't you see for yourselves? This is who we are and what we are all about." Yes she has a bit of an abrasive side but I think she's the first to admit it and tries to acknowledge it with humor and wit, which I think is not always how it is perceived. I loved that thier segment on Oprah was as real as it gets . . . missing shoes, fighting, competing for Mom's lap, etc. etc. I've seen other multiples on programs sitting perfectly in a line, smiling, and nodding the whole time (uuhhhh, Duggars anyone? ;) ) and this was truly a refreshing dose of reality!
