Joining DVC tomorrow!!!!

My family is coming home tomorrow and I can't wait. I've been reading this forum for quite awhile and I am excited to finally become a DVC member. I will have many questions over the next year or so and I know I can find my answers here but my first question is this: Our year does not start till next summer and we are going this December. Is it worth taking advantage of using the "free vacation" or should I just plan my own trip and put the money into my downpayment. I thank you in advance and hope to see some of you at SSR soon.

If you're going to WDW in December and have "developer's points" to use, you might as well use them rather than pay cash, IMO. Have a great trip!

We joined a few weeks ago & took the dev. points. I was going to cancel our Oct. trip for the Polynesian & use these points but being during the Food & Wine Fest. we couldn't get at the resorts that we wanted, so we'll stick with the Poly - got a GREAT deal on that anyway. Since you have a trip planned, I would go with the developers points. Congratulations!!!

First check to see if the DVC resorts are available during the time you want to go, if they are then I would go for it. However, alot of weeks in Dec are sold out right now.
