We will be at DHS for rope drop on Monday. We have a group of 7. Can one person do a boarding group for all 7 or does each person have to join? Any help would be appreciated.

Tell me more...
Are you unable to join a boarding group unless you have scanned your MB and entered the park?
Does everyone then immediately begin trying to join a boarding group?

from reports this morning, people were abe to join while at bag check at DHS, so you have to at least be at DHS, can't do it from your room.

You know how on MDE if give your GPS location on the map. I'm guessing as long as the system says you're around HS, it'll let you do it. Not sure if there's a specific point.

You have to be close to DHS but not necessarily tapped into the park. Also if you are traveling with a group of people, EVERYONE has to be near the park in order to be added to your boarding pass party in MDE.

Does everyone immediately begin trying to get a boarding pass? Unless they are planning to avoid the ride, yes :)

Reports today were that all boarding passes were booked by 8am, and that was WITHOUT advanced notice of the virtual queue being used. I wouldn't be surprised if the next few days book even eariler, as word spreads that guests should be checking for the VQ.

Lots of info in different places so I apologize if this has been answered somewhere. We will be there Jan 2-5. On the 2nd we already have reservations for Oga’s and the droid factory. Assuming they are still using the boarding groups, would we still need one in order to ride RotR? Or once we are in SWGE we will be able to get in line?

If they are still using boarding groups, you would need one to get on the ride. A reservation anywhere in the Land doesn't guarantee you anything in terms of the ride, they're two totally separate things.

This is different from when SWGE opened and they were using boarding groups for the whole LAND, not just a ride.

the current use of the VQ is to access RotR not the land. The land is open to everyone right now. So think of VQ as a fp without a specific return time

So do we know what time they started offering the VQ in comparison to what time the park opened?

It sounded like it was around 5am or earlier. The park technically didn't open til 8am, but they opened it up for people to ride, and boarding groups were full for the day before then

Has there been any reports of how long it takes to get through the line once its your turn?

How does Disney know when the non magic band users are near the park? Do they have to wait until they actually scan into the park?

+1 this is a big question for me - if it's done via GPS in the app, how can the app decide which family members I'm allowed to add to my boarding group, if those family (like my kids) don't have a phone/app?

if you manage their plans on MDE you can add them, every single person does not need to have a phone, it's not done through phones, it's done through your MB or park ticket. Every person needs to be at DHS and through gps Disney knows where you are

So basically Disney is assuming all the family members are together and I don't need to make sure everyone has some sort of tracking device lol

If people were signing up outside the park in the bag check line, they haven't scanned the magic band or ticket yet. This is confusing and doesn't completely add up yet.
