Joining a boarding group question

I would really appreciate if discussion of ways to "cheat the system" wouldn't continue
It does seem like an efficient way but would be completely unfair for the people that wake up early, kids and all, and go over to the park.
I don't want this becoming a name calling, post but if you are coming and getting on a VQ, then the entire group should do so
I am sure that if Disney detects abuse it will change to everyone has to scan into the park before joining a boarding group. They can do it, it’s how MaxPass works at Disneyland. I’m not sure why it wasn’t set up that way to begin with.

So for now get there early, be one of the first and once you checked in join a new boarding group for later.
Any Single Rider line?

btw, I am really happy I waited a week to go. Let them work out the issues.
no SR line
I'm interested in seeing how late you can get there and still get a boarding group. Gonna be hard to get my wife up early enough if they are out by the time the park opens.
Well we have no previous data since it opened today. The park I believe opened unofficially around 6:30am by 8:25 VQ was closed

I agree. It would cut down on some potential for abuse and give priority to those who arrive earlier AND get through the turnstiles.

Does "boarding group" just give you access into SWGE as a whole and then the rides are Standby? Or Boarding Group is for the actual ride itself?

VQ give you access to join the boarding group for RotR, the land is open to everyone, no need for VQ

Will there be a separate VQ for Smugglers? Or they'll take guests as long as people will wait?

Thank you - we'll be there from 12/20-12/25 and thinking the crowds today will be nothing in comparison to the crowds when we'll be there so hoping SR sticks with SB. DH wants to go on ROTR so we'll have to do that on a "wait and see" approach.

Pure speculation, but I wonder if they were concerned about a potentially unsafe logjam if people scanned to enter the park and then just stopped to book their group. Probably safer to let people book outside the gates while they wait.

Oh man I hope not - Planning on visiting 12/27 and if we have to be at the park at 7am to get a VQ slot for ROTR I'll be seriously bummed.

What happens if we get a VQ slot that would end up being near the end of the day - are there in an out privileges for single day tickets at DHS?

Yep - any non-parkhopper ticket (except the 4 park magic tickets) allows you to leave and re-enter the SAME park on the same day. You just can't enter any other park.

This has been great information! My group will be trying for next Wednesday!

I completely agree. I am going on Sunday. I know they said it won't be available to ride during EMH but I am guessing you might be able to get into the VQ. I hope I don't have to choose between riding and making my dining reservation.

Can you leave the park and hop on over to say Epcot after you join a boarding group and return to HS when you are notified your boarding group is up?

i'm glad they did it this way but i agree . . .i think it should be on lock down unless you physically are tapped in so it puts everyone on the same playing field. not random locations near the park. 1 spot for everyone, so those that get there earlier in line so be it and later so be it.

This sounds like a great system. I'm hoping it's still in effect end of January DS and I go. Can't wait!!

To answer the question on being in the park to join a boarding group, yes your whole party must be in the park and tapped in to get into a boarding group. Just being through bag check or even in parking lot will not work. And if your whole group linked to your mde is not going with you be prepared to see a cm for assistance. I went by myself without the rest of the family. Even though I was #5 through the tapstyle. I could not get a boarding group until #15 because everyone else didn’t come with me, and had to see a cm
