Is it just me, or are there other people who feel really sad about John Ritter's death? I mean, yeah..he was not Johnny Cash or Bob Hope, but still, for us growing up in the 70's he was a very familiar face.

Just when he had re-started his career after many years of bad films. Too bad. He will be missed.

Yes it is sad. Of the two, I felt that Johny Cash was more talented, in a way. But he lived his life out, and had grand children, etc. John Ritter, it's just so sad. Like you said he was just starting over again.

I know this isn't a debate, so before this gets moved: Three's company was probably one of the stupidest shows ever to be on television, but it was completely and utterly harmless and fun. He was never known as a great actor or anything, but I was surprised at how sad his passing made me today. A familiar, friendly face, I guess is a valuable thing.......

While I agree with you on Three's Company, actually Ritter had gained a considerable amount of respect the last few years, particulary with his work in "Broadway plays".. Don't forget, he did win an Emmy.

I get the magazine InStyle and a few months ago they had an article about his house and it had pictures of his wife Amy Yasbeck and their daughter Stella. Stella is a very adorable little girl, and what made me sad is thinking about how Amy had to tell Stella that her father died. Poor little girl.:(

Safe to say I didn't grow up in the 70s, but I know John Ritter from the sitcom "8 simple Rules." It's my favorite show right now..well, he made the show what it is, and so it will probably be cancelled in it's (only) 2nd season :(

What's worse what he was filming on the set of the show when it happened! The poor cast had to witness it. :( :( :(

I've only seen one rerun of Three's Company and he was hysterical.

I'll miss John Ritter's refreshing humor and I pray for his friends and family. :(

It's just 54-years old is way too young to pass away anymore...WAY too young...

John Ritter was an amazing talent. Few had his comedic timing. When I think of John Ritter, I put him in the same category as Dick Van **** as far as his talent for physical comedy.

He'll be missed, for sure. :(

.....Three's Company was one of my favorite shows during the seventies. He'll definitely be missed. What'll happen to his show???

I'm feeling especially sad over his death. I don't think I've quite gotten my mind around it, yet. He was only 10 years older than me and I grew up watching him. Sort of reminds me of my own mortality.

he will be missed, and its funny even my kids were saddened by his death, he comedy was generational....they know him from 8simple rules and i grew up watching threes company...prayers for his family{}...:(

I have to agree as well about being unusually sad by this news. A co-worker told me today when I got into work that he had died. I couldn't believe it.

Any death is a sad thing of course, but usually celebrity deaths don't make me as sad as John's passing has. It really is a shame, he was much too young.

I feel very sad, too. Guess this is a testimony to his talent. He wasn't the biggest star, the handsomest star, or the most popular star, but he was a solid talent, was silly in a good sort of way, and you sort of felt like he was your older goofy brother. He will be greatly missed.

I feel the same way, Im really very sad about him passing.
It doesnt usually affect me this way. He was always someone that people could relate to I think just goofy and very talented. I agree with Val, he was like a goofy big brother or your next door neighbour.

He will be greatly missed. :(

Prayers for his family :(

Extremely Sad about his passing......I had no idea he was only 55.:( He was only 10 years older than me, and it truly made me think about my life, and how short it truly is.:( He problably had no idea, he had a "Heart Condition" and its sad that maybe something could have been done beforehand.:( I believe his Dad Tex Ritter died young too.:( Sure, Johnny Cash was a legend and all, but it did NOT surprise me that he died, as he has been in bad health for years..:( John's passing was a shocker, right up there with John Denver's years ago and Sonny Bono.:(

You know, I am having a really hard time with this one...I am really, really sad. :( I loved him best as the reverend on the Waltons.

Definitely a shocker. DH & I were really looking forward to the new season of 8 Simple Rules. It is one of the few sitcoms I feel I can let my boys watch these days. Most have themes that are way too mature. DH & I were wondering what they would do with the show & if they would try to put another actor in his place & if so who. Such a sad day for his family and co-workers.

I cried my eyes out this morning when I heard the news and cried again this afternoon listening to his fellow actors talking about him. I think John Ritter was so very talented. He was so funny. He made me smile and laugh out loud practically every time I saw him. He was GREAT at physical comedy. He will be very missed. Three's Company was a funny show. I still watch it on Nick at Nite, and his new show 8 Simple Rules was great. We loved that show. I'm very sad and can hardly believe he is gone. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I, too, was saddened to hear the news. I was devastated to learn that he died on his daughter's fifth birthday. So, not only does 9/11 have national undertones for Stella on what should be a carefree, happy day, but now she has lost her father.

He might not have been one of the most famous actors, but he was great in everything he did. He made you believe he was the person he was playing.
I remember him in 3's company but I remember him in one of Stephen King's movies, and quiet a few other things he did on tv.
His death was a shock, and what hit me most was that it was something he didn't even know was wrong with his heart. Other's have died of this same problem, I remember reading about a young (21) year old football player who had the aoerta rupture. There probably was nothing they could have done. I bet they were treating it like a heart attack when in truth, he was bleding out inside himself. I just hope it was quick for him and he didn't feel the pain I can imagine he felt. It makes me want to go to the DR and have some kind of cardiac ultrasound to make sure that I dont have the same defect. You might and never know it is what they said on tv tonight.
The fact that he was 54, almost 55 is terrible too. His birthday would have been next month.
Entertainment Tonight said he died on his daughter's 5th birthday, and his poor wife's birthday is today. What a terribel way to remember their birthday's for the rest of their lives.

I usually don't feel much when celebrities pass away. Strange, but this one hit me hard, too. Seems like it hit a lot of people hard.

And regarding Dick Van Blank....don't you think that's funny it got bleeped?!? I'm sorry to interject that into this serious thread, but it made me LOL. Sorry!
