John McCain is NO Maverick

I did not come to this conclusion lightly. I am a registered Independent and accordingly did a LOT of research. I believe that any decision should be an informed decision.
I just finished watching Top Gun for the ninth time and in my mind there is no debate.
Maverick was nothing less than an amazing pilot. He could flip off the enemy upside down at G force speeds and have the photo to prove it.
John McCain was shot down.
Now don't get me wrong. I'll be the very first to admit that Senator McCain endured things in a POW camp that I personally would have no chance of handling. Heck, I can barely get through "Meet the Teachers Night".
But if you REALLY want to cut to the meat and bones of the whole issue...... the only reason John McCain is now a war hero is beacause he was then a crappy pilot.
Is he a nice man? Absolutely.

A MAVERICK? I think not.
