Wow. I picked hung jury but was really hoping for the best.
Again, please don't take anything away from this jury based on this decision. They at least kept her off the streets and she's still behind bars. Let's be greatful for that.
Yes my heart breaks for Travis' family. All we can do now is hope the next jury can finish what this jury started.
I'm so upset by this, but probably for much different reasons than everyone else. I can't believe we still live in a society where people actually root for someone's death. I understand the family's anger completely, but its amazing what this has turned into and how people think they know everything about what actually happened.
Maybe it's because I'm a victim of domestic abuse myself and because I spend so much time volunteering for a local shelter, but I can't shake the thought that there's a tiny possibility that Travis wasn't 100% innocent. Seeing what I've seen, I can't help but wonder if she killed him because he didn't have the chance to kill her first. But again, my opinion is extremely biased.
AZCentral just announced a statement from DA's office that they're weighing their options.
Pathetic, next time you f***ing fill out a form saying you could give death don't F***ing LIE!
Absolutely, pathetic! This jury's hold-outs should be ashamed of themselves, you don't waste this much time and money and have everything spelled out to you for this many months and NOT GIVE A VERDICT!!!
This jury's hold-outs wasted everybody's time and money! If jurors knew they could not give the DP they should of asked off the jury because they lied on their juror form!
Have some backbone and do the right thing, TA family now has to wait Months to MAYBE get justice! This is a slap in their face! These jurors can say sorry all they want, it does not make-up for it!
The truth will come out who the hold-out or hold-out's were and they will get what is coming to them in the form of ridicule because they defended a murderer from justice and they should be held accountable for their actions!
Is it a crime? No, but in the eyes of many it will be and they will pay in court of public opinion!![]()
Seriously? If one person doesn't agree, just replace that person with someone who does? How does that even remotely represent the US Justice System? For apologizing. They should have come back and given the judge a reason, if it was one they may have been able to replace the juror.
Calm down and grow up. The bolded is despicable.Pathetic, next time you f***ing fill out a form saying you could give death don't F***ing LIE!

As in taking the DP off the table?

Jurors are NOT talking, and they're names will be sealed. I don't blame them. They may talk at one point.
Could be, lots of good info from AZCentral right now, much better than HLN geeks.

I don't think Travis was 100% innocent. I think he was very guilty - guilty of being a fool who let his sex drive think for him. There is too much evidence that she stalked him for me to believe otherwise.
I think those of us who know somebody like her (and I do, although not to her extent - at least not thus far) are terrified by the fact that we know this could happen to somebody we know. Not everybody agrees with the death penalty, and I'm guessing you don't. I do, particularly in a case as savage as this one. It was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was premeditated - that completely does away with any question for me that she may reacted in the way you described. JMHO
I too, as much as I am sad for Travis's family, think this jury did a decent job. I'm just a little surprised that those who were going for the death penalty could not be talked down to life. I imagine that would be easier than trying to talk someone into the death penalty.
And in all honesty we are all thinking that the hold out was someone who could not vote for death..but what if the hold out was the other way? What if one person would not change their vote to life?
horseshowmom, I think you and I could stay up all night at a slumber party talking about our respective BPD persons.I think those of us who know somebody like her (and I do, although not to her extent - at least not thus far) are terrified by the fact that we know this could happen to somebody we know. I was hoping for a unamimous decision of either life or death, and I would have voted death. With that being said, if there was one juror, or several, who for their reasons could not agree we need to respect that. They were doing their job, and we are not sitting in their seats. I have to believe this was extemely emotional for them too.
My heart does break for the Alexander family because I would have wanted them to have this trial completely over.
We don't know if there was one hold out, or if there was a split of several jurors. If a juror felt there was mitigating factors for life, that is there decision to make. I don't think we should be pulling out the pitch forks against these folks. They did their job to the best of their ability. I'm sure it was very emotional for them to come back and not be able to agree. They've been there since December.
The jury hold outs did not waste the courts time or money. They decided on murder 1 with premeditation, and they decided that the crime was especially cruel so that one of the choices was the DP. The fact that they couldn't agree on LWOP or DP does not mean they didn't do their job. From the beginning this jury has been invested and asking questions. If they could have come to a unanimous decision they would have rendered one.
