Pretty sure that almost everybody when staying in a new place becomes "hypervigilant" of their surroundings. Unfortunately for Jodes, it's prison and there is no way to "relax" when you worry about being shanked all the time.

Does it matter, she still killed him and the real question is did she plan (premeditate) to kill him which the theft of the .25 implies she planned to kill him, stabbing, not so much.

It does matter, her defense is Self-Defense, you do not stab somebody 29 times and slit there throat AND THEN go get a gun and shoot them to top it all off in Self-Defense.

If she shoots him first it gives credence to her story more, and that gives doubt toward pre-meditation. You guys need to remember this whole shot him first stuff is all a creation of Jodi's, and Jodi is a liar.

The evidence shows the shell casing ON TOP OF a pool of blood, meaning Travis was already beading all over when JA shot him. I don't but for a second that it was just kicked there or dropped there perfectly during clean-up either, that is far fetched at best

There is clip on the state page someone put together. If the gun is Travis' why not tell them where she put it so they can prove it did belong to him. Why take the gun and dump it if fact it belonged to him.

A good point, which is why I don't any of this chased her down the hall till she got the gun from the closet trash JA and her DT are spewing. The gun she had was her Grandparents gun that she stole.
