Jobs at Disney for Journalism Majors?

Hey, this is my first post on this forum. I have been in love with Disney all my life, and it would not be an understatement to say I've been to Disney World about 20 times for the 19 years I've been on the Earth. I am majoring in Journalism at the University of Florida, and I was wondering if either the Disney Parks or the Disney Corporation has a use for journalists? I'd rather work closely with parks instead of, say, ABC. Maybe I could work on those Disney Insider magazines? Does anyone have any information I can follow?

I have been amazed at the variety of interests and roles WDW encompasses. When I read the internal postings, it's like being a kid in a candy shop! Aquarist to Pyrotechnic to Finance to Education, you name it, it's here. So, to answer your question, yes, there are roles for journalism majors.

IMO, the very best route is to go through the College Program and make excellent use of your time by networking like mad and taking whatever classes are available to you. Stay seasonal if at all possible and stay in active touch with your area as well as keeping up with the networking, if you can.

Apply for a professional internship toward the end of your college career and see where that carries you. Faith, trust, and pixie dust (and dreams), but you have to take a very active role in making that happen.

Yes, there are Professional Internships for Journalists - my DD had one right after graduating college. In fact, she is still at Disney working as a Communication Assistant in Imagineering. She has her "dream job" less than a year out of college. The opportunities for networking are unbelievable; she has met and worked with so many executives and well-known Imagineers in the last 6 months.
