I've exhausted the searches on Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com and Hotjobs.com

Anyone recommend another job search site like these three?

Thanks,
Diana

Local newspaper will be better than any of those.

I use the local employment office (it used to be called the UNemployment office but I guess that wasn't as attractive.)

nothing gets ya down more then looking for a job, hang in there

What kind of job are you looking for?

You really can't "exhaust" your search on those sites, as they are constrantly updated with new listings.

You should try to network. I could offer places to do taht if you tell me what type of work you do. Also, get in touch with old co-workers and let them know you are lookign and to keep you in mind. You can also go to the web sites of employers in your area to see what they've got listed.

Have you looked directly at the websites of the companies that interest you? Sometimes jobs they post there don't make it to the major job sites.

Thanks guys. It's actually for my husband. Currently he's an Office Services Manager but there isn't any room for him to grow at his company and while he loves it there, he wants to start to see what else might be out there.
I'm sending his resume out for him.

Depending upon the industry you're in, you can search the web to see if there are headhunters that specialize in your industry. You can then send your resume to them -- I think most headhunters do not charge the employee, but instead charge the company that is doing the hiring. Headhunters (along with Monster.com and the other job sites) can also offer you tips on improving your resume, interviewing, etc..

Recruiters, recruiters, recruiters! :Pinkbounc

When I was sniffing out a new opportunity, I, too, posted with Monster and the others. Here is the down side . . . it seemed that after I posted with them, my junk e-mails grew to a ridiculous rate! :scared1:

Many recruiting companies specialize in various industries. Once a recruiter is sold on you (personality over the phone is key, in addition to a strong resume), ask if you can check back with them in a week. Then do so! I consistently "checked in" to keep my name fresh in front of them.

I was so blessed to have a recruiter here in Dallas who called me on a whim. I knew her from years before when I was searching and she had an opportunity come across her desk that seemed like something I would be interested in. Sure enough, she was right. I am now with an awesome company and absolutely love what I am doing.

I wish you the same great fortune. Hang in there. Recruiters will do your legwork and oftentimes be able to give you the scoop on the company and its managers if they have worked with them before. Good luck! :flower:

and he can't do this for himself for WHAT reason? Seems like a grown man should do his own job searching? :confused3

He needs to hire a headhunter!

I used to search for my DH and send out resumes for him. He was busy working and appreciated the help. It's no big deal. Am I missing something? :confused3

It's just that she's been a little overwhelmed with a newborn and a toddler and he has been a little "less than helpful" in the past. I don't expect my DH to look for a job for me and he doesn't expect me to look for a job for him. It just seems like if a person is ready for a job change they would take it upon themselves to do the looking. :confused3 That's all.

I believe flipdog.com was always owned by Monster.

I use HireHealth.com heavily in my industry, however it is related to the pharmaceutical and health industires. It can'y hurt to try.

Your best bet would be to make a list of local companies that he wants to target and start scouring thier websites. Many local HR departments cannot afford to advertise on the "big" websites.

Tip on headhunters - their services are free - they will get a commission off your salary when hired. So, there is no nead to "hire" one. But, good headhunters are hard to find. They will ask for exclusivity in the job search for a certain period of time. Before giving it to them - ask what luck they have had in finding positions in your field previously - what salaries they have placed candidates at - and also, what companies they work with. Some companies, will not work with head hunters - so it has it pros and cons.

Good Luck!
Kelly
