Has anyone been to the Margaritaville Cafe at Universal?

My husband is a Jimmy Buffet fan, but I am concerned about taking kids there due to the possible "more bar-like" atmosphere. Also, there is that one song he sings, "Let's all get......................"

Has anyone been there? Is it okay for families, or is it more like a bar?

Thanks for any help!

Definately for families..go and enjoy!

City Walk is fantastic, you are going to love it.

Just remember, the clubs/bars are 21 and over only after 9pm.

It is an awesome place for families, we've been there one time and are going again in 2 weeks. The bar area is seperate from the dining area. They have a volcano the erupts too.My husband is a big JB fan so it's a must!

We all loved it as a group there were 10 of us 4-65 until the volcano erupted and my daughter wanted out.

No desert for Mom.

Really we had a great time.

Okay Parrotheads, you know the song I'm talking about...........

Do they play "that" song in the restaurant area? I would be pretty ticked if my 7, 12, and 14 year old boys heard that! They'd be like, Dad thinks that's okay??? Whoooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

The best way to find out is to call the restaurant directly and ask them if that song is on rotation!

Any suggestions on how to get there from CSR at WDW?

We are not renting a car (who wants to drive after going to "Margaritaville"?)

Your only option will be taxi or car service. Plan on it being a $30+ fare not including tip--each way.

Margaritaville isn't my fav. Universal Restaurant, but I don't think you need to worry about a song. It's a restaurant not a concert. Noone really concentrates on the music. Imagine being at Rainforest Cafe, & trying to listen to a song. Not really happening. Margaritaville is a fun atmosphere, with lots of things going on. For more info & pics, check out the Universal Board.

It's definately family friendly. There is usually someone walking around on stilts making balloon animals for the kids.
I've been there quite a few times and really like it.

'why don't we get drunk and ....' is not in the rotation.

all of the restaurants in Citywalk are family-friendly. a couple do turn kids away later in the evening, but Margaritaville isn't one of them. it's our favorite Citywalk restaurant, with Bubba Gump's in a close second.

The problem I had with Margaritaville is after the meal. After having a couple of margaritas, it is tough to leave without buying the Frozen Concoction maker.

It is fairly family friendly. It is lots of fun if you are a fan. The food was good although a bit pricey for what you recieved. Typical theme park prices. This is probably one of Uni'd best places to eat. The atmosphere is the best. I liked the food slightly better at Emerils.

I do like that this one has a sillier atmosphere. I like that there is two parts to this one with I do believe two seperate menus. I also like that when they say something is spicy it typically is spicy. Take that to heart when ordering.

Well, we think the food at Emeril's is a whole lot better. That's personal opinion though, I suppose. Incidentally, if you've eaten at other Margaritaville restaurants, esp. the one in Key West, the food at this one is a little different. However, for a fun, family friendly experience, Margaritaville @ CW would definitely win.

You seriously think your children are going to hold their father responsible for a song playing in a restaurant??? I think you are overthinking this! Unless they are raised in an atmosphere with absolutely no outside infuences (homeschooled, no tv, no radio) they've probably, no scratch that, undoubtedly heard worse. Anything sung by 50 Cent, for example.

We ate there with our adult chldren on 2/24. I recommend the volcano nachos. There is live music after 9 and Buffet songs and slide show playing before that. I thought it was a fun atmosphere.

We went there with high hopes this past fall and walked out - which we hardly ever have done. We were getting no wait-service, people who were seated way after us got their food AND were done and we still hadn't gotten ours. We think our order got lost in the kitchen or something :confused3 . When we were finally able to track down the manager(had to ask for her and then had to go search her out), she offered us nothing until we said we were leaving then she said something about well, maybe she could comp us a dessert.
Ummm...I don't think so.
I very rarely if ever have left a restaurant before the food comes. I like to at least get a chance to taste the food, but I think I can safely say that...
We will probably never go back.

agnes!
