Allears has a dish called Seared Maize Pudding listed on the menu. For those who have been there recently, is that dish currently on the menu? Also, has anyone ever ordered it and if so could you describe it for me. Thanks in advance for your help.

My DH had it in September and he loved it so much he called the manager over to tell her how awesome it was and thank her for the restaurant's doing something interesting for vegetarians.

It was a bed of mixed vegetables (onions and bell peppers, maybe some other things) in a spicy piquillo pepper sauce with a corn cake (sort of like cornbread) that was cooling with greens on top of it, you kind of break up the cake and eat a bit with each bite of the vegetables.

Thanks Tilly... It does look yummy!!! My DH and I are thinking of going to Jiko and I don't eat meat, fish or fowl. I am going to order this.

They can also make the Swahili Curry Shrimp Stew with tofu instead.

I had the shrimp version and it was outstanding ... so many different components that were so individual and yet worked so perfectly in any combination ... it had artichoke hearts, peas, roasted tomatoes, curry sauce, coconut rice, I forget what else.
