We have a 5:30pm ps @ Jiko's for DH, DD9,DS4 and myself in Sept. We chose the earliest seating due to having our children. Do you think children dining @ Jiko's is a problem. We will brestaying @ AKL. My children do well in restaurants. I also, considered putting them in the Simba's club while DH and I dine. However, DH think they will be fine. TIA:rolleyes:

I had an early dinner at Jiko and it was not crowded. This was May of last year. It did start to fill up as I finished my meal. If your kids are good at meals they should be fine here. I don't recall it being the quietest of places either.

If your kids are used to sitting for 1.5 to 2 hours for a meal..then great take them. If not..take them to the kids club.

Jiko is a very relaxed, no rush..time between the appetizer and entree type of place.

We were just there a couple weeks ago..there was a table across from us with young children..these children had outstanding behavior during the whole meal. Reminded me of when mine were young..we could take them anywhere.

Webray is right on with his comments, it depends on your kids. If they can sit (not wander around the table, but sit) quietly for 1 1/2 to two hours, take them. Otherwise your kdis club idea is great. They'd probably have more fun at the kids clubs, most kids love them!

We took our kids 5 and 2 at the time to Jiko and the LOVED it. We had an early PS, and the meal did last a long time, around 2 hours. My kids are used to eating out, we go out once a week, so sitting for that long isn't unusual for them. If you think your kids can sit for around 2 hours, go for it, it is a GREAT place to eat!!!

We took our kids to Jiko in May and they loved it. They were 4 (almost 5) and 2 (almost 3) at the time, and they behaved very well. They were given crayons and something to color, which was perfect as they really enjoy coloring. Our dinner lasted about one and a half hours.

When my daughter returned to preschool after our trip, she told the teachers (who are familiar with WDW) that Jiko was her favorite restaurant.

Have fun!

We ate at Jiko for the first time this past October and we loved it!! My DD also enjoyed her meal, and she does very well in restaurants!

The first time we tried Bomas, I wasn't sure if my youngest DD would like it or not, and she had been begging to try one of the kids clubs! She went to Simba's Clubhouse for an hour and LOVED it!!! She is always asking to go back!

If your kids would enjoy the clubhouse, you may want to try dinner just the two of you, knowing your kids will be having a great time playing with other kids too!!\

Enjoy!!!

In May, I gave my DD7 the option of Jiko or Simba's Clubhouse. She jumped at the chance to go to Simba's. Luckily, they had room available for her since it was last minute. My mother and I enjoyed a nice dinner and my daughter had a blast at Simba's.

When we went to Jiko's (twice) it was not busy at all. It was in the fall. We found it very relaxed and quiet with understated/subdued service. We only saw one (extremely well behaved) child on one of our visits.

It's a very beautiful, romantic restaurant. The food is wonderful.

I guess you have to decided for yourself if your children would like it since you know them best.

If you like red wine, try the Saxenburg South African Pinotage!

This is one of our new fantastic finds!! I love this place!! Can't wait until our next trip just to go back and take DH there.

I took my dd, 5 there for dinner jus a few weeks ago and she loved it!! (and so did I!) She's a picky eater but she loved the salad they had on the kid's menu and the grilled cheese.

We were seated next to the window which is a water view. She loved watching some of the ducks visiting the pond at the time swim back and forth.

I don't think our dinner was more than an hour since it was just the 2 of us and I ordered 2 appetizers for dinner instead of an entree...which they were sooooo yummy!!

Took us so long to check this place out and I'm sure glad we finally did!! I love discovering new places to dine at in WDW!!

If you're children want to go to Simba's club then you can have a nice romantic dinner here, otherwise you'll have a fun dinner. Very unique and delicious but the normal offerings are there for the kids!

Thanks everyone for your replies.:smooth: DH and I decided to take the kids to Simba's Club and enjoy a dinner by ourselves. Believe me, we can't wait b/c we never get a chance to go out alone here @ home. :lovestruc :cool1: :love1: :rolleyes1 We also will welcome the idea of having a glass of wine.
