Jiko with kids?

It's WDW so there will be little kids in every restaurant except for the 2 that don't have kids' menus (V & A amd upstairs at France) so you won't feel out of place. But be forewarned, there are some people here with VERY strong opinons about kids being at the "signature" places and Jiko is one of those. My kids always did fine at resturants, even the slow boring ones, as long as they had something to color.

But i decided to send the kids to the kids club in the hotel. My boys are 4 & 6 -- think they might like the club better, and me and my husband can relax.

My husband and I really want to try Jiko. Can we bring young kids with us or would we be out of place with them?

We took our DS9, DS7, and DD4 there last year and had a wonderful evening. Our server was fantastic (I tipped him 30%) and the meal was one of the best I've ever had. Our kids are "restaurant veterans" and as parents we have taught them to be respectful when in public places.

I think the other poster referred to some people not liking rambunctious kids running around, crying, throwing tantrums, etc. As long as your kids are enjoying themselves and having fun I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind frowning on kids being at signature restaurants (V&A and Bistro are exceptions of course).

Afterall, this is Disney World. If people expect an adults-only experience they are in the wrong place.

The only reason to feel out of place with your kids at Jiko is if you allow them to be loud, obnoxious and out of control. Even a minor meltdown can be tolerated, as long as there is an appropriate parental response to correct the unacceptable behavior. Well-behaved children are always welcome and Disney is a wonderful place to help teach them appropriate behavior in an upscale dining setting. As a parent though, it is really important that you be prepared to remove the kids from the dining room if their behavior deteriorates to an unacceptable level.

Thank you for your comments. My five year old would be perfect but I just worry about my two year old. She is a roller coaster - you just never know how she will be in a restaurant. I don't want to have to leave in the middle of it and not enjoy my meal.

This might not be the place to post this question but about the kid's clubs. Can you use them if you are staying in Disney World but not staying in that particular resort? Does anyone know?

Thanks!
