We just ate there last Saturday night. Here's my review:
I love Jiko. Last year, I loved my dinner there so much (filet with mac and cheese) that one night when my DH and kids fell asleep early, I snuck down for a late dinner all by myself - I sat at the counter and had another filet!
This time, we took our kids with us - ages 7 and 8.
Service was excellent. The CM helped us order a nice bottle of red wine.
My kids loved their meals - DS had the kids' steak and DD had grilled cheese, which came with strawberries, celery and carrots and some peanut butter dip.
I ordered the filet with mac and cheese again, because I missed it so much. DH ordered it as well. We had the Jiko salad - can't remember the name, but it was mixed greens. It was wonderful.
I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with my meal this time. I ordered my filet medium, but maybe I should have ordered it medium rare. It was not as pink as the last time. Maybe they have a different meaning of "medium" or it was just a bad day in the kitchen. It was still good though, and I ate it all. My second issue was that compared to the picture posted on earlier in this thread, I didn't have nearly as much mac and cheese. Seriously, it was so scant that I bet there weren't 25 noodles. It would have been nice to have a bit more to go with the filet. The sauce for the steak was outstanding.
The one upside to the lack of mac was that I had room for dessert. I loved the pistachio creme brulee. DS and DD shared the "fun do" - which is a cookie, brownie and rice crispie treat, as well as strawberries, with chocolate dipping sauce. The kids loved it!
The kids also got a call from Goofy at the end of dinner - the CM said they had someone who wanted to talk to them. I saw other kids getting the call too - it was a nice touch.
I like the atmosphere there and would definitely eat there again.
