Thanks everyone.:mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

Dining at Jiko was one of our favorite meals. Loved the atmoshere and the wait staff was very attentive.

Now to the good part, the food .... The Lamb Patis was my absolute favorite item. :lovestruc On this next trip, I want to sit at the bar and just order a couple of orders of them!! I know we also had a flat bread that we both loved but for the life of me I can't remember what was on it.

I had the filet and DH had the lamb shank. Both were very good but still not as good as the Lamb Patis.

For dessert, it was the Creme Burlee. Since I love Creme Burlee and also Pistashios, I thougt it would be the best part of the meal. I liked it but didn't LOVE it.

The other attraction was the wines.... I don't remember exactly which wines we had, we really enjoyed trying several of them. Our waiter was very good at helping us select wines to our tastes, especially since DH and I normally like different types.

Read my review report a few postings down, there's a review of Jiko in there!

We've been to Jiko many times over the last 7 years. It has never been anything other than fabulous. We've taken people with us and they have all declared it their favorite meal as well.

You truly can not go wrong with anything on the menu. I love the flatbreads and the african dip/spread appetizers. DH and DS usually get the filet. I've really enjoyed the curry dishes lately. Last time we were there I got the chicken, it was good but not "special." And as the previous poster mentioned, they know their wines there. The servers are great too.

Jiko and Flying Fish are our "go-to" places at Disney.

Enjoy!!

I had my birthday dinner there last year - it was SO good. I love the atmosphere. It was relaxed, professional, and more adult like. We had a later reservation so that probably had something to do with it.

The filet with mac and cheese was REALLY tasty.

Jiko along with California Grill is our favorite place to eat at WDW. We have eaten there many times and always loved it. Jiko is fantastic.

I recently went and enjoyed the Kenyan Coffee BBQ-Braised Beef Short Rib -- one of the best things I've ever eaten on Disney property. Now, that entree alone was $35 so add in some appetizers and the meals for everyone else and you know it's not a cheap experience. But if you can afford the splurge, the food is incredible and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This restaurant is amazing. The short ribs and the filet are great. The wine selection is awesome. Wait staff is always helpful with anything you need. Atmosphere is nice as well. Go for it:thumbsup2

The boys and I are in the process of writing up our review of Jiko from our last trip in March...

I'll post a link in a bit

FYI- for those of you who have had Shellie as a server and loved her like I do, it seems that she is only there a couple of days a month now. :sad2:

We've stayed in touch through e-mail over the last few years, and I wrote her to let her know that I was planning on dining there during my upcoming trip. She wrote back letting me know that she now works full time for a wine distributor (which is right up her alley since she's a sommelier) and is only working at Jiko once or twice a month now. What a loss for Jiko! :sad1:

Here's is a great place to get reviews.

AllEarNet.com I always go here for reviews, you can even review the resorts and events that people go to. Enjoy!

I am HAPPY to report, the boys and I have begun our review of Jikos....

HAPPY to review Jikos

Stay tuned for the full review, as the boys are leaving me home tonight with the dogs and going out boozing :drinking1

We agree. We wish her the best in her new career. Shellie, we'll miss you.

I'm so sorry to hear this.:sad2: Shellie is a great server and excellent sommelier.:worship: I remember her most when my DH and I participated in the Sunset Safari followed by a great meal at Jiko. She is so knowledgeable. I'm sure many will miss her. I wish her well in her new job.:goodvibes

I plan on having my b-day dinner there too! Cannot wait to try this place!

By the way, Shellie suggested asking for Nassar or Michelle as a server. She says that they are both excellent. :thumbsup2

Same here, everyone we bring to Jiko really enjoys it, loves the wine and atmosphere. I think we've had almost every entree on the menu, only thing I didn't like was the lamb shank (though many other people do, YMMV). Apps, desserts, wines.. all good (still miss the monkfish though the sturgeon is tasty). We like to try new places, yet somehow manage to return to Jiko every trip to WDW. FWIW.
