Hi all. We are really going overbudget and staying at WL and upgrading to Deluxe DDP! It's all about the food this trip :rotfl: I was wondering if we should try Jiko or Citricos this time? We have never been to either. I figured Citricos would be easier to get to with a boat ride and then monorail. But if Jiko is better we could definitely take a bus over there.

Any opinions are appreciated!

thanks in advance,

Danielle

WOW, tough choice......

Both are great and both have vastly different menus and flavors.

If you are the Deluxe plan, and I am not sure how it really works, can't you go to both?

Experience 2 new places on your trip?

Totally agree with Mister Disney. That's a tough one. Both are extremely good but totally different from each other.

;) Me three! :lmao: Do both. They are definitely worth it.

I would say Jiko. We've eaten at Citricos a couple times now and Jiko probably 20 times or more, and while Citricos is a good meal for the most part, it just doesn't have the "wow" factor that we get with Jiko. When I saw "wow," I'm referring to atmosphere of the restaurants, as well as creativity & flavors of the menu items. Everything I've ever tasted at Citricos has been a little -- well, a little bland.

Now, we've eaten twice at Jiko since Brian Piasecki has taken over, and I'm hoping things improve as he gets more settled and cozy. I have never been a fan of Le Cellier, and I was hopefully optimistic when he took over Jiko. But the portion sizes the entrees have been greatly reduced, and all the dishes we've ordered have been over-salted. The little details to the dishes that used to be there slowly seem to be fading, too. Like the edible flowers that used to be served with the filet have dwindled down to practically nothing. The two times we've eaten there since he's taken over in the kitchen, the bed of edible flowers and exotic microgreens that used to be is now just a typical salad with (I'm guessing) watercress & arugula. Same with the flatbreads; the microgreens used to be a real part of the flatbread, a topping, if you will. The last two flatbreads we've gotten have barely had any microgreens on them.

The wine lists at both Citricos and Jiko are wonderful. We've always thoroughly enjoyed all the wines we've ever ordered at both eateries.

So even with what I'm beginning to interpret as a bit of very recent homogenizing and cost-cutting of the menu at Jiko, I'd still recommend Jiko over Citricos.

What I'd recommend more than anything is that Disney bring back Anette Grecchi Gray!

Citricos menu doesn't appeal to us, so I would say Jiko.

Those are probably my two favorites at WDW, so it is a tough choice. If I could only do one, it would be Jiko, as I like the food there just a little better and the wine list is great. But, they are both wonderful places and you can't go wrong with either one.

thanks everyone! Sounds like my choice is made. I was leaning toward Jiko so thanks for the extra votes LOL. Now my only question would be Citricos or Narcooses? I know I am a pain in the you know what!

thanks again!! Sounds like we can't go wrong no matter what. We are excited

DH and I ate at Citricos on March 27th, and really enjoyed it. They have a fairly new menu, though the braised veal shank is still part of it. We haven't tried Narcoosee's yet.

I would say do all 3! Deluxe gives you 3 TS per night of your stay. That is plenty of room to do 3 signature restaurants! Having 3 sit down meals every day would get to be overkill. Enjoy!:thumbsup2

I would take Narcoossees. Again, Citricos menu doesn't appeal to me.

DH and I weren't fond of Jiko..... We really just didn't care for it.... We LOVED Citrico's and Narcoossees though!!! Both are excellent!!!

I would have to say Citrico's over Jiko and Citrico's over Narcoosees - we really loved that place!!!!

One you didn't mention was california grill - I would choose that over all 3 of the others!!

Jiko! In all our times there (many) it has never dissappointed.

We have eaten at Citricos a few times. The food has always been good but just good and we have had poor service more than once. I know so many people love it I am almost willing to give it another try.
