Last June I took my then 5 yr old dd to JIKO--we loved it, she loved it!! Wow a new place. DH was not with us and we said next trip we must take DH, well... we did...this past Friday night and it didn't disappoint!!
We had a great server, Drew. We were seated in the semi private dining area at around 7:45. We actually had 6:40 PS however DH was meeting us up there and he was running very late. The hostesses were most cooperative even though it was a very busy night-they were very accomodating. There was a line on several ocassions to check in and BOMA...well that place was HOPPING!!
Dh ordered the springs rolls or egg rolls I believe, dd (now 6) got the kid's salad and I got that delicious tomatoe, onion and cucumber salad with the watermelon dressing. DELICIOUS!! Me, not at all being adventurous after reading some of the great reviews about the filet and the monkfish...welll I decided to try the monkfish (I am so not adventurous!!), but on this night I AM GLAD I was!! It was excellent as DREW had said it would be! I enjoyed it very much!! DH had the short ribs which were also very tastey and dd had the chicken strips which folks are NOT chicken fingers but Grilled Chicken strips which she liked as well.
I also enjoy a glass of the Gamekeepers Reserve, Cabernet and DH had one of the South African beers (I don't remember which one).
This was such an enjoyable meal, service, food, dining experience. DD and I walked around prior and saw some giraffes in the savannah. It was a cool night so there were some animals around.
The one thing I learned is every now and then if you like to "play it safe" like me...try something new, you never know, you just might like it!!
