Im trying to make my ADR for Jiko on the same day that Fantasmic is going on at DHS. I'm going in May and the times for the show are not yet out, so I'm still doing a lot of guess work.

If I dine at Jiko, about how long will I need to schedule dinner in order to get in, eat, catch the bus to DHS from AKL and get in line for Fantasmic?

Roughly how long has it taken people to eat at Jiko's? Im guessing dinner around 4:30 would be good.

I don't believe Jiko starts seating until 5:30. At times they might extend their hours.

Hrm, it seems you are correct. What time does Fantasmic usually start in mid-May? Im not sure it's even dark at 8pm in mid May. Do they start it ~9 then?

I would do the package deal with Fantasmic if it didnt' require 2 dining credits, but Im already eating Jiko, Narcoosees, and Cal Grill. Im not willing to switch one of those out in order to eat mediocre at DHS.

ANy help is appreciated.

Thanks

The US Naval Observatory has a great site for determining sunrise/sunset. The info for May 15 in Lake Buena Vista shows sunset at 8:09 and the end of civil twilight as 8:35.

But who knows what night Fanatasmic will be happening come May. When we were at WDW last week, it was only presented two nights.

Plan on at least an hour & a half to 2 hours for dinner at Jiko. Depending on the showtime maybe you could see Fantasmic first and then have a late dinner at Jiko?

Yes-unless you intend to gobble down your food (or don't get a full meal), Jiko will take at least an hour and a half. So even if you eat at 5:30 you likely won't be finished until around 7. You then have to get that bus and get over to DHS and then walk to Fantasmic.
Unless Fantasmic starts at 9, sound like a rushing of things...

A good estimate for how long a full meal (app, entree & dessert) at Jiko would be about 2 hours, if you're taking your time & enjoying the meal and overall experience (rather than shoveling it down to get out ASAP). If I were going, I'd also have to budget in about 30 minutes (at least) to look at the grounds & gift shop, since AKL is by far my favorite resort I've stayed in (to date). I'm looking forward to a meal there next week while there on DW & I's Disneymoon!
