Has anyone done this? I don't mean one of those "combined faith" ceremonies, but a full-on Jewish ceremony, chuppah and all. Does anyone know if there are certain locations that would not accommodate a chuppah? That would be a deal-breaker for us.

Chuppah = canopy (usually fabric-draped) under which the couple, officiant and wedding party stand during the ceremony.

I initially wanted SBP, and while it looks tall enough inside, it would also hide the chuppah, and I want that to be clearly visible as I'm planning to make my own and want it to be beautiful. For this reason, most pictures I see are of outside weddings because it looks so beautiful.

Thanks for any information!

How about the wedding pavilion? It's beautiful and has a sort of traditional 'feel' to it.

I will look into that, but I am mostly entertaining an Escape option. It's a ways out though - if I end up getting help paying for this (which is not currently on the table) then Wishes, a la lurkyloo style, might become an option for me. :thumbsup2

Croquet lawn looks absolutely beautiful!!:lovestruc

My sister's husband is Jewish (we are Catholic) and they had a Jewish ceremony under a chuppah :lovestruc (...it was supposed to be interfaith but that's a whole other glass of wine...) It was beautiful though and the chuppah does really look beautiful outdoors. I've been to a wedding where it was in an indoor location and it was very beautiful too...Did you make sure you can bring your own chuppah first? I wonder if they will give you a hard time with that? They might want you to go through DFTW for that... Also are you having a 'Wishes' wedding or an Escape? I don't know if you wanted an in park ceremony but in the Italy pavilion there is that gorgeous open area that has stairs up to a circular area (I think it's called Italy Isola or something?) If you wanted to have it at a resort they may be able to give you a lawn ceremony site? I'm curious what you come up with...I'm sure the chuppah will be beautiful :goodvibes

We had an outdoor Jewish ceremony, but I was a Swan bride. We had a beautiful chuppah set up at Crescent Terrace. The chuppah was designed by our floral vendor, Greenery Productions, and they created exactly what I wanted. Our rabbi was Rabbi Robert Lefkowitz & he did a wonderful job. There were a few things I omitted from my ceremony (I did not want to circle my DH 7x & my dress had capped sleeves), but the rabbi was very flexible with working with us. We got our ketubah from ketubahstore.com

If you end up doing Escape and can swing the in-park option (since needing to pay for transportation does make it more expensive than it could be) I think Canada would be beautiful.

I'm fairly certain they could move the benches? Of course, you are locked into a morning ceremony time that way, but I think it'd be a gorgeous backdrop and totally private!

Thanks for the pictures - this looks totally doable! :thumbsup2

I also like the Canada and Italy suggestions - they are beautiful locations. I am still not sure if I am going to do Escape, Wishes, SoG or Dolphin/Swan. Juggling options is a debilitating hobby for me, I'm afraid. :upsidedow

We're not Jewish but did borrow heavily from your traditions for our ceremony. We too had a chuppah and a kind of secular version of a ketubah at our ceremony at the Swan. We were at Crescent Terrace, the same location as aristocatz. We rented our chuppah from Arc de Belle (http://www.archrentals.com) and our ketubah was made by an Etsy vendor (https://www.etsy.com/shop/jerise).

You're welcome :) I agree that either location would be gorgeous. If we had gone with a DFTW, I would have personally chosen Morocco or Italy. I think those are gorgeous locations to highlight a chuppah. I loved Crescent Terrace though-a very beautiful & peaceful location with a backdrop of the waterway with the boats going by :cloud9:
