Jetblue Frustration

You guys are beating me up :)

No we are not going out of business, that is for sure.

I know you all want to buy tickets, but it is true, new routes, airplane maintenance, ad ect. But I know they are working the best they can.

The weather thing. JB has only 140ish ACFT, unike AA, who has 1000. We do not have airplanes scatted all over the place. When we cancel for weather, it is for your saftey. And as much as it is a pain to get stuck, at least you know you will get home...eventaully...

I have been stuck before too. We are usually pretty full, so as much I would love to get a JB plane, that plane is full as well, too many great JBers and too Few JB planes. But we try.

We do try our best, but I understand our best will never be enough..

As much as weather hurts us, it hurts everyone.

Dont forget about Slot Restrictions ( NY Airports ) If your not in line, your not going.

I appreciate all the comments, even negative ones. Just be patience, relax, and enjoy JB!

Sorry I personally can not do more, but ask to be relaxed. Aviation is a complex world.

I look forward to talking to you, and helping you the best I can.

Bri

I am waiting for April 09 dates to open. I am sorry to say that we mave have another 3 weeks to wait, since for April 08 the dates did not become available until the second week of September 07. :confused3 :confused3

Thanks for the insight...:bored: I guess we just sit and wait...

Hi Gang

You guys are beating me up :)
Hmmmm, a gang, beating up poor BriBri. What kind of a Bulletin Board is this!

We're all watching and waiting for those new fares. I've been checking every few hours today :surfweb:, and will likely do so some more tonight and early tomorrow morning. I saw the Southwest fares came in pretty high, particularly in and out of MCO, which I think we were all expecting (esp as their fuel hedges run-off).

All I need is one way on the way home, so hopefully I'll find something I can afford with jetBlue and not have to continue watching the competition.

For those in the non-aviation world...What does ACFT stand for??? That is like when the doctor tells you the pt is ALS'ed and we are sending him out for CT, and he needs another IV for TPN :lmao: It's all alphabet soup to me!
Slot restrictions??? What are these? You say slot...I think Atlantic City or Las Vegas! *jackpot* :dance3: If you're not in line you arent going...Well who would be silly enough not to get in line??? :sad2: OK I'm confused.

I have $15 JB credit...for some reason they said that the TV's went out on my last trip...I don't recall this happening, but thanks for the $$$...I just want to spend it...and get the munchie mix. :upsidedow

It's been a long day and I still have a party to go to tonight...

Thanks for being out eyes on the JB site...I've checked a bunch too...:guilty:

Don't mean to beat BriBri up...Frustration isn't directed individually. I'd be willing to call BriBri direct just to be able to write a compliment...or can I do that just cause????

Pumpkinboy-
Did you just get your airfare one way and then looking for another fare the other way??? Interesting...Didn't think of that.

Hmmm.... maybe I should do that....

Sorry

ACFT - Aircraft

Slot Restrictions - Will be a FAA mandated Program to reduce conjestion. (sp?? ) Faa said do it or we will do it for you and Charge you.

Simple Terms = Airlines get a certain amount of Aircraft they can send to take off every hour. I think its about 8 in NY Airports :) So the Traffic jams up as they get their Clearance from the FAA and pushed back from the gate to get in line. Bc if you lose your slot, you lose your chance at that flight making it for that hour.. ( but then your next hr. may be full, so its a game if hurry up and wait, .... )

Confused yet.. I tried my best to make it simple..

Its funny tho,.., WDW DD,DH,DS,DD, we could do a Whole Disney Texting, abbriv. Thread.. haha

why does Ny have to be so difficult??? I live in NY and let me tell you...everything is difficult!!!

Thanks for the info...

I am trying to finish my Private Pilot Lic.

And lets just say, NY has 3 Airports in Close Prox. to eachother. Try taking a single engine plane i fly thru NY Airspace. Its a Gaggle. Better to Avoid! :)

Google New York Sectional, and look at the Blue Bubbles, if your a pilot or know what charts mean, you know it could be a Major headache if you are unprepared..

I am simple.. I am here to talk about Disney, JetBlue and find a DG ( disney Girfriend???? ) haha if that is ever possible.

We found a flight on the Friday night of February vacation week that we could not resist. It's a non-stop on Delta BOS-MCO well after school has let out for the week, so no guilt there. DW and I decided that if we found any reasonable one-way non-stop for the outbound flight for under $200, we would pounce on them (if I'm gonna pay more than that, I'll take my fav' airline, thx); Delta came in at ~$170 each for the 5 of us for the one-way, and then they were all gone (current price: $354.50).

So, yeah, we buy one-ways most of the time now, even if it's on the same airline; for our flights over Labor Day, we bought the outbound on jetBlue for one price, then the return using a sale coupon for another. If I'd booked it as a round trip, I'd have paid $14 more per person bcs I could not have used the coupon.

But I'll keep my eyes open:surfweb:, and then post here once I have purchased.

Good luck! :goodvibes

Actually, the reason that Jetblue has trouble recovering from the weather has to do with the stategy that keeps their prices low. They have very low turnaround time on all their flights. Bad weather has a domino effect on them because they pretty much start boarding the next flight as soon as the last passenger is off the plane. With so many market uncertainties, it is probably that much harder for them to schedule into the future. I'm waiting for May flights but I'm confident that when they come out they will be very competetive rates. I'm sure the same is true for February.

I don't buy that line. Have you watched SW. They turn around in 20 to 30 minutes and THEY can recover from weather in a day or so! I have never herard of SW pilots calling the CEO after a storm to find out where they need to go to find a plane! LOL!

:surfweb: I keep watching, and not finding the new fares. And Southwest fares are out so JB is the last of them to bring out February airfares...

good luck all...

Yeah, I checked out SW yesterday. I can get $129 each way, but really, really, really prefer JB. I wish they'd do it already. "Do it..." (Starsky & Hutch anyone???)

Southwest has 538 aircraft in their fleet as of August 2008 (5th largest fleet in the world). JetBlue has 140-ish (per Bri) - not even in the top 15 as far as fleet size goes. SOunds like SW may have a better shot at turnaround then JB after weather delays just by size of fleet alone (maybe they could have extra planes nearby, or extra crews in an area)

And SW flies to a lot more places.

Seriously weather recovery is actually HARDER if you are bigger. The trick is to have plans, to plan in advance etc. JB seems to "wing" it and the results are not good!

No airline today has "extra planes" and extra crews. That used to be true, but with costs being what they are...

One of the reasons SW is so profitable is that they do MAXIMIZE equipment use. So every plane they have is busy and productive as much as humanly possible. So the truth is that for the volume of flights they fly they have FEWER planes then someone like United, USAir etc.

I got prices from other airlines too and they are more than reasonable...but prefer JB too...:guilty:

I think one of Jet Blue's problems is their main hub is at JFK and they have a high concentration of flights in the Northeast. All it takes is a little weather and the northeast goes into shambles. Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC can all be a mess even with just low clouds let alone rain.

Yeah tell me about it. We live in upstate NY and if the weather is bad, you're SOOL! That is why we are leaving a day before...

There is talk that they (Most airlines) may be cutting more flights after Labor Day. Maybe they are waiting until then to post new availibility???

Pixie.. 240 A Person!!! ( RT i Hope... ) JB Usually starts at 114 one way.. If you have been looking at the past and present schedule..

114 is what it is now, i am sure it will be the same if not lower..
