Jetblue Frustration

Forget it, if I find a decent deal with another airline, I'm going to take it. This is ridiculous and I'm not going to wait around to get this trip in order. So much for the customers needs.

It is "damed if they do" and "damed if they don't". If they did release schedule sooner, then people won't like the necessary schedule changes. (Just check out the recent AirTran threads!) And I'm sure folks wouldn't want higher fares, which would accompany releasing scheduled sooner and not changing them in response to changing circumstances.

Well, bicker took the proverbial words right outa my mouth. People.....one of the reasons Jetblue can offer better fares, with few changes to their schedules, is to not book too far in the future. Believe me...I book with Delta sometimes, and while it's nice to have my flights in place, I do spend the next 7 months compulsively checking Delta for the changes they are going to make...and almost every single trip they make at least 3 changes.
So...wait patiently for JB to open up their next window...it'll happen. Or, just go with another airline. But, be prepared for those constant changes to your times/flights because the airline has to change things around to keep the money coming in with the least amount going out!

You do know that they are not over at JetBlue's main offices, giggling evilly, enjoying keeping everyone up in the air, right? They're not trying to tick you off.

Most airlines are positively BLEEDING money right now. If JetBlue's waiting to release their next round of fares, is going to help them remain viable. It's really got nothing at all to do with the customer's needs, and everything to do with remaining a healthy airline.

I freely admit that my travel OCD is working overtime currently, because I have never NOT had my flight booked for February this late, but I am going to hang in, and see what happens.

I wait and I wait....:surfweb: That Delta thing would throw my travel ocd into overdrive...

Are you sure they aren't sitting at their main offices laughing at me...I know they are...I bet you right after they hang up the phone with me they giggle...I know it... :rotfl:

Travel OCD...oh yeah baby! Mixed with my ADHD and let me tell you-this isn't going well....and it's even worse b/c I'm planning for 4 people...and ONE OF THEM IS MY MOTHER!!! :scared1: Love her dearly, but her nagging is enough to make someone jump out of the airplane...:scared:
Ok, maybe I'll wait a little longer...but this isn't easy. I WANT MY AIRFARE NOW! GARSH DARN IT! Now, where was that kitty??? :lmao:

Well, today's not the day...again.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm really thinking they'll open up the 21st....because that's the same day Southwest is supposed to release their next round of fares.

Guess we'll see!!!

This is a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway...are SW & JB strong competitors for airfare? Are they both cheap??? Here's to keeping my fingers crossed...and hoping they come out the 21st...:rolleyes1

I noticed this on the Southwest site. It may give you some indication of when JetBlue might reveal its Feb. 09 rates as well:

We are currently accepting reservations through January 9, 2009. On August 21, 2008, we plan to open the schedule for purchase through March 6, 2009. This date is subject to change.

I am kinda hoping not as I'll be on the road that day... ;)

:surfweb: Not today either...but here is an email I got from Jetblue...

Thank you for your email requesting information regarding the date our extended JetBlue flight
schedule will be published. We recognize that you are anxious to make your future travel plans, and
regret any inconvenience the wait may be causing.
If you know I am anxious as many others are-why haven't you posted them. I'm the consumer...You are supposed to make me happy
Because we're busy adding new flights, new aircraft and new cities, we've been keeping our schedules
short term. Or are you thinking about shutting the doors. I have never had to wait this long!!!We are trying to spare our customers the inconvenience of having the schedules change
after they have already purchased their tickets. I appreciate that, but I don't have any tickets to worry about

As our Marketing and Scheduling Departments work together to coordinate this growth, our schedule
date is extended and becomes available for purchase. We are not advised ahead of time a specific
release date for the new flight schedule. We encourage you to stay tuned to jetblue.com for the
announcement; when the dates you are looking for are released, you may book immediately online, or
call us at 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583) and one of our Reservation crewmembers will be happy to assist
you. Geez thanks. You're useless.
Ok so maybe I'm a little harsh, but I have to tell you...I have ALWAYS been able to purchase tickets WAY in advance with JB. There has NEVER been a delay like this when I've travelled before to purchase tickets...Honestly, the whole thing is looking a little suspicious

I would not worry too much about the fares, schedules, etc... When they come out, they come out... I still haven't booked for my 10/31 trip as I am waiting out some lower fares...

The airline industry has not faced this type of economic trauma in a looong time and putting schedules out there in this climate is tough... Airports are constantly changing the amount of avaialble gates to a given airline, which impacts the number of flights to a given location... Orlando is one of the airports with the most modifcations to its flight schedule... This fall there are many fewer flights in than in the past...

Just wait it out... It's not worth getting freaked out about...

Honestly.... you need to quit taking this so personally:rotfl2:

Actually from things I have read and announcements JB has made I think there is a change going on. I think they like Delta, Spirit (although I have no hope for thier future) and others are thinking that 'international' is the way to go.

So if they decide that it's more profitable to fly to Central and South America then Orlando (which it probably is) and they can't afford more planes (which they probably can't with jet fuel being what it is) then they have to make some signficant schedule changes.

One area where JB falls FAR behind the "big boys" is in scheduling and flight planning at least based on what you see when they have to recover from weather. So I bet this takes them longer then it shoud to figure out!

Not today...maybe tomorrow...
Well, nothing yet today. But I am gonna keep on top of it. The dates no longer stop at January 31, like they did yesterday; today, you can scroll up to May, but the dates are greyed out and not selectable (hmm, is "selectable" a real word?).

Since Southwest is announcing its new schedule today, we may yet hope jetBlue does.
:goodvibes

Pls keep in mind that most of my posts are made PRE-ritalin. ADHD is a wonderful thing. That early in the morning...I take everything personally...:rotfl:

Absolutely...selectable is a real word. At least it is in my world! :dance3:

In direct proportion to the extent customers in general are willing to pay a premium for what will make you happy, normalized by the cost of what it will take to make you happy.

That's a nuance that a lot of customers overlook quite often, and as a result they expect in practice something radically different from what they can expect in reality.

Or are you thinking about shutting the doors. I have never had to wait this long!!!
Disney released November park hours a little over a month after the point where people have had to normally "wait [that] long". There is no reason to assume that there is anything going on other than what JetBlue said.

The point is that they have determined that their customers prefer fewer schedule changes, and so when they determine it is very likely that a schedule change is imminent for dates they have not yet even released, they will hold back the release. Their statement is saying, explicitly, that the cost of disappointment in the delay in releasing flights and fares is less than the cost of disappointment from the imminent schedule change.

Geez thanks. You're useless.
Ok so maybe I'm a little harsh
Absolutely, harsh indeed. They're providing you all the information that they have available for the public. There is no basis on which to expect them to provide company secrets.

Actually, the reason that Jetblue has trouble recovering from the weather has to do with the stategy that keeps their prices low. They have very low turnaround time on all their flights. Bad weather has a domino effect on them because they pretty much start boarding the next flight as soon as the last passenger is off the plane. With so many market uncertainties, it is probably that much harder for them to schedule into the future. I'm waiting for May flights but I'm confident that when they come out they will be very competetive rates. I'm sure the same is true for February.

I am waiting for April 09 dates to open. I am sorry to say that we may have another 3 weeks to wait, since for April 08 the dates did not become available until the second week of September 07. :confused3 :confused3
