Hey all,

My girlfriend and I are hitting up the World in September, and we're all set, flights are booked, hotel is booked, rental car is booked (for free, whoo Chase), we're all set. Then, the other day, on a whim while double checking our seats for the flight we decided to upgrade to the extra legroom seats on our flights, and move to the first few rows of the flight. Mostly we were excited about the boarding priority and getting off the plane quickly, but extra legroom is nice too, my girlfriend is taller than me and has a few issues with cramped seats, but nothing terrible.

Well, now I'm wondering if that was really worth the money, mostly I think I'm just looking for something to tweak because I've already played with our FPs and ADRs too much! I'm just wondering, has anyone made use of these seats and the early boarding? Were you happy with the purchase? I believe it comes with expedited security too, but we both have TSA precheck so that doesn't matter.

For the record we paid $120 total for both seats round trip.

Matt

I like the extra legroom if I'm doing carry on bags. I have the JetBlue cc, so get free luggage, but when we travel on a short trip and do carry on we like being able to not worry about overhead space and getting on my way faster. No regrets at all. We also have precheck already. The price depends on the route.

My wife and I get them on nearly every flight. Preferably row 1 or an exit row because along with the legroom, nobody can recline into you. Row 1 is our favorite though. 1st on, 1st off and comfy. We've never once regretted the extra money for them. The priority boarding and security is a nice little bonus.

$30 each way is a good price so I wouldn't overthink it. We fly cross country so it is usually like $60-70 extra per person each way so I only do it when I travel solo.

As long as you didn't put yourself into an emergency exit row, the seats are well worth it. The Even More Space seats in emergency exit rows do NOT recline, and that is a no go for me.

How much extra are those seats ?

It depends on the route. I have paid $50pp from BOS to MCO 18 months ago, $40pp from PVD to MCO 3 months ago and a few years back I could have gotten it for $80pp from BOS to Anchorage via SEA. Currently it's being offered for $55pp on my flight this Oct from BOS-MCO.

Is one leg each way substantially shorter than the other? Maybe pass on the Extra Leg Room on up-and_-down - i.e. BOS/JFK - flights?

Since I fly mostly on "points", I always go ahead and purchase the extra leg room seats. Money well spent. I don't need it (only 4'9"!) but I love to be in the front of the plane and boarding first. I never choose row 1, but 2-on is fine for me. You can exit the plane very quickly! I am now a seasoned flier, but I still feel claustrophobic if I can't get off the plane right after landing!

DH is pretty tall with really long legs so we always get the extra legroom space. We have paid various prices but it's nice to board earlier (if we need to) and the even more speed at security is a nice perk too.

We get the more legroom seats every time. Worth the extra money for us!

My ds is 6'4" and although we are driving to HHI in a couple of weeks, he is flying and I purchased the extra legroom on JetBlue.
The first row is still available but I got him the second row since I thought it would be better if he could stretch his legs under the seat in front
of him instead of having the wall and not as much room to stretch his legs. Do you know if this is correct?

Thank you.

That would make sense as long as he does not have a bag under his seat.

Yes 2nd row is better than 1st in my experience.

Thank you both very much. I'm keeping him as-is.

I won't pay for extra legroom seats. Especially on JetBlue. There is more than enough legroom in the regular seats (unless you are very very tall). But then I don't care whether I am in the front of the plane or the back. If I sit in the back, I don't have to worry about getting my carryon aboard, and I don't have to pay JetBlue anything extra. I also have precheck so I don't care about the security.

If the front of the plane is an absolute must, I can see paying for them.
