JetBlue credit question

We booked our tickets for our fall trip when JetBlue opened up their airfare. We got decent prices, flying out on a Wednesday. Now for a couple of reasons, DH wants to fly out Monday night. We could get a flight for the same price but am not thrilled with the $50 per ticket change fee (which in our case would be $250).

DH was wondering, could we just book a Monday flight and flat out cancel the Wednesday flight, getting credit for those tickets? I know we would have a year to use the credit. Our question is, we would be cancelling for us and our 3 kids, but when we used the credit, could it go to just one or two of us (for instance a trip for just DH and myself)? Or even a trip for my oldest child? Or is each member of the family credited, only to be used by them?

Thanks for any info.

The credit can go into one account. For example, during a recent trip I needed 6 tickets (one way), so purchased 2 sets of 3 tickets. Set one is myself, my adult DD and GD#1. When the price dropped I got a credit for each ticket put into my travel bank (=$36). Then the other set of tickets was for my DH, my SIL, and GD#2. Again my DH got a credit for $36 put into his travel bank. Generally the rule seems to be, as long as the credit goes into a person on the itinerary. Though it does sometimes depends on the agent. I cancelled a ticket/trip for my grandson once and since he did not have a trueblue account, the agent did put the credit into my travel bank. I had purchased the ticket with my cc. I find the Jetblue agents to be great to work with.

Whether you cancel or just do a change it's still going to cost you $250, so it really doesn't make any difference which way you decide to do it.
I believe they will put the credit into any TrueBlue account you choose, if you decide to cancel.

Depending on the original fare, it could cost $100 each to cancel the Wednesday tickets ($50 for fares up to $99, $100 for fares $100+).

So are you saying that if we were to cancel the flight we still pay the $50 fee even if we don't book a flight until say, next spring? Just trying to figure out how it works.

Assuming you booked you flights prior to May 17, 2013 you will only have to pay the $50 or $100 fee depending on the cost of your flights.
Here's the current Jetblue change/cancellation policy from their website.

Change/Cancel Fee Amounts - Effective May 17, 2013
Changes and cancellations made 60 days or more prior to departure date:

$75 per person fee
Changes and cancellations made within 60 days of departure date:

$75 per person fee for fares under $100
$100 per person fee for fares between $100 - $149
$150 per person fee for fares $150 or more
*Note: Customers who booked their reservation prior to May 17, 2013 will be allowed one change or cancellation at the previous fee structure - $100/per person or $50/per person for fares under $100.

Thanks for the information. I think we will just stick with our original flight.
