I know it's been talked about here, but for the life of me, I can't remember the particulars. I know JB is now charging for that first checked bag.....but, what itineraries does that apply to? I know that if you booked by a certain date, even if flights were after the start date, you still got the first bag free.
Does anyone remember that cut off date for booking? Maybe June?

Really? I know there was talk about this, but the last time I checked it still says your first bag is free. Guess I better go check again.

The way you worded it, it appeared that you were saying if you bought the lowest price class you had to pay a baggage fee now, not in the future when/if the policy changes. And then you posted a link to the current policy

B6 is introducing (has not yet introduced) new deep discount economy fare classes that will charge a checked baggage fee. You will still be able to buy higher fare classes which has them included (this is the same on pretty much every other airline as well, I know on AA the highest economy fares include two checked bags).

The particulars have not yet been announced, and currently when you purchase your tickets they include checked bags.

Per DOT regulations, the CoC at the time you purchased your ticket are the ones that count, not the ones when you fly, so just book and you'll be fine. :)

I agree. When I first read the response it seemed like the poster was saying that there would be a fee for any luggage if bought on the lowest fare. Thank you for getting clarification.

That is because the current policy still applies. If you buy your ticket before the policy changes for a flight date after the change, you won't have to pay the fee.

Thanks all....that's what I thought. Someone told me that policy had changed, or was due to change very shortly. I couldn't see it on the JB website....and knew that we had discussed it's possibly happening, but couldn't remember if any dates had been bandied about.

Just a note, Jetblue's next release is July 8th. I hope that the enforcement doesn't get announced then. Seems likely. This will be a game changer for us. Reagan is not close to us, but we've been using them to fly Jetblue. Once the price changes are options will change.

You and I always seem to be going around the same time every year. We will be at AKV Sept 19th-26th? You flying out of Reagan on the 19th because we are? Oh wait I just realized you will be already down there coming off your cruise.

It's supposed to be introduced at the end of June, at least for my airport. They have signs up letting customers know. Whether it goes through as planned or in stages remains to be seen.

Ugh. Guess we knew it was coming. This will be a deal breaker for me. I love jetblue but will have to go back to united out of Dulles when this happens. It takes us 2+ hours to get to Reagan to fly jetblue now that they took the fl flights out of Dulles. We we fly them home we have to rent a car and drive to Dulles to meet family, then have an hour drive home. That is an added expense for a rental, so $50 more will be the final straw for us. I am excited that in November JetBlue will have one nonstop per day out of bwi and will try that if the price works out better. Guess I could alway check one bag and carry on 2 small ones to cut costs too.

We do don't we! That trip is our cruise trip. Flying out of Dulles on united on 9/10. Haven't booked return yet. Either JetBlue into Reagan or united into Dulles on 9/23. We really hop between airports. In August we are flying SW out of bwi and jetblue back into Reagan. Of course we have our yearly October trip. Nothing booked yet to leave, but home is on the new SW nonstop into Reagan on November 7. Guess we are lucky to have options.

Wouldn't it be great if Southwest would start non-stops out of Dulles? That would be the death blow for me schlepping to Reagan for JetBlue.

They had it for a short time a few years ago, but guess it didn't do well. We flew them at least twice then it ended. Bwi is 1 1/2 hour drive for us, but not a fan of SW.. I do fly them as a last resort, but don't like the open seating policy. Pretty much geared to families. We are flying them in August as we are taking our 3 granddaughters (alone, no parents). We had a $200 credit from a bad flight last October that we didn't want to lose. We did pay for the early bird extra just to help us secure better seats. The kids are 10, 10, & 8 and one has never flown. Missyrose, have you tried frontier out of Dulles. We flew them last November. We were late, but for the low price they were ok. Pretty much my last choice, but cheap. Nickel and dime you like crazy and not friendly at all.

Haven't tried Frontier. Mainly flown JetBlue, with a couple of trips on Southwest and United thrown in. I wouldn't fly Southwest without EBCI, especially with the new family boarding procedures they're testing.

Yes I read about the new family boarding testing. Ugh. If we get a B boarding number and have to wait for family boarding I won't be happy at all. I read it's for 8 year olds and under. I feel like I did the right thing by buying the ebci to ensure my grandkids are taken care of and all those with kids don't have to even buy it. I've read a few posts where people with ebci are getting B. Lucky for us is that we are flying home on jetblue. They should not allow family boarding until every person who paid for ebci gets on first, or SW should not over sell ebci so that they run into the B boarding group.

I think I've taken this tread off topic. I apologize to the OP

No problem! Off topic isn't an issue. Keep discussing if you want.
