I usually always use southwest because I love the flexibility of being able to cancel and rebook. We are flying to FL over Presidents week and I know the prices everywhere are going to be outrageous so Im going to consider JetBlue when their dates are released. I was just wondering if Jetblue would let you cancel a flight and get a credit to rebook similar to southwest?

This information can be found on JetBlue's website:

JetBlue said:
For JetBlue Nonrefundable Fares, changes or cancellations may be made prior to scheduled departure for a fee of $100 per person plus any applicable difference in airfare. Any remaining balance will be placed in a JetBlue air-only credit and may be applied toward future travel for one year from date of issuance. If a nonrefundable reservation is not changed or cancelled prior to scheduled departure, all money associated with the reservation is forfeited.

For JetBlue Refundable Fares, changes and cancellations for a full refund are permitted prior to scheduled departure. Such changes are subject to availability and any applicable difference in airfare. If a refundable reservation is not changed or cancelled prior to scheduled departure, all money associated with the reservation will be placed in a JetBlue air-only credit and may be applied toward future travel for one year from date of issuance.

Refundable fares are typically much more expensive then non-Refundable.

Fares for our trip to WDW last year went down twice. I called and they rebooked at the lower fare with no additional fees and the credit was deposited in my True Blue account.

I love Jet Blue!

Just wondering when you rebook do you get to keep your original seats or have to change? My fares for upcoming trip have gone down twice since I bought them but I did not bother trying to get a credit since I did buy early in order to get the seats I wanted on the plane.
TIA

Since they updated their system in January, you now retain the exact seats without the rep having to go in and reassign them. Just call and tell them the price has changed and they will check and redo the reservation and put the credit in your trueblue account. The credit is good for one year from the day you receive the credit. (However, when SW gives you a credit, it is only good for one year from the day your booked, so not great if you book early.) This is also a big IF for JB. When you fare drops, the new fares has to be available for ALL of the people on your reservation. For example, if you have 3 people on your reservation and the fare drops and says only 2 seats available, then you can not get the credit. Often when there are 6 of us flying, I book 2 reservations of 3 each. That way I might get a credit for half of us, which is better than nothing.

No one beats SW for their rebooking policy. No fee to switch flights or days, but you have to pay the difference if the new flight is higher and you get a credit if the new flight is lower. This has always been the biggest advantage of SW. Personally I prefer JB for the seat assignments, but have flown SW a couple of times this year.

I am curious because I just noticed our flights went down a bit over $250 for our whole group. Do you just call the reservation number on the web site and ask for the change?

Thanks.

Yes. I find the agents at JB are very pleasant and easy to work with. First off you have to make sure the drop is for the exact itinerary you have and same party size. Also, the credit is put into your true blue account, so if you don't have one, you need to set one up first. As mentioned earlier, the credit is good for one year from the day you get it. The entire credit can be put into one account even if it's for an entire party, which makes it easier to use - IMHO.

Thanks again for this thread. I called and was able to get the credit to my Jetblue account for the difference. I was a bit annoyed at myself when I saw the price drop after we booked. I just reaffirms why we choose Jet Blue.

Of course now I will check on a regular basis to see if it drops even more. :)

That is great news!! I use Yapta to track my flights. If the price drops, they email me. While I don't rely on them exclusively, they are a nice tool that tracks fare changes. I'm tracking 6 flights currently, some purchased and some watching for a change in fare. (I still check daily too!).
