I am about to purchase my tickets and it looks like Jet Blue has the best prices. this will be a big change for us because we have been flying Southwest for the past 10+ years. What I want to know is when I book the tickets do I get to pick my seats or do they just give me the 1st available seats? Also, what are the chances the prices will drop and if so can I get a credit like Southwest? We aren't going until August (actually going to DL for the 1st time), but they have perfect flights and best rates, plus I figure the kids will love the tv's. Oh yeah are the headphones free, will my mp3 ear buds work??? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm ready to get our tickets (no turning back after that) and just want to know a bit more about Jet Blue. Thanks :thumbsup2

You pick your seats at - or any time after - purchase.

JetBlue claims that they offer their lowest fares first, and that when those sell out they don't release more lower fares; instead, the price just goes up as previously determined. They DO, however, have fare sales. They have been giving credits when the customer calls when the exact fare drops, but recently changed their computer system entirely and may or may not currently allow credits.

eta: If there is a fare reduction and you call to get credits to your TrueBlue account (do register, it's free), be sure to double-check your seat assignments. Ready for more information than you'd ever think to ask? Okay - to issue the credit, JetBlue actually cancels your existing reservation and rebooks it, at no cost to you (well, no cost prior to the upgrade). Ninety nine point eight percent of the time, the reservationist rebooks your same seats. Once in a great while, they forget.

Headphones are no longer free - just as well, they were chintzy :). They have better headphones for $2 per pair and you get to keep them - mine are at work for when I need to hear something on the computer. The inputs are universal, so YES, your mp3 player's earbuds will work.

Too many questions? Please. There weren't - but even if there had been (and that's 100% subjective), how are you going to get your information if you don't ask? Enjoy JetBlue - I won't fly anywhere they don't :)

Kaytie said it all. I would like to add that we, too, love JB and try not to fly anywhere they don't either. Wish they would come to MHT.

I love jet blue! i try to only fly with them. i've always got good deals with them and in the past if the price dropped they gave me a credit of th diff towards my next flight! Drinks and chip are "free" or included and u can get as much as u'd like. MY husband HATES to Fly so the TV's really help him relax and forget we are 30000 feet in the air :thumbsup2

Wow, Thanks for all the info. I am really looking forward to our trip and can't wait to check out Jet Blue. I wish they flew out of MHT too, but we'll travel to Boston and that will be something new for us too. I just really wanted a non stop flight and Jet Blue has exactly what I want. Even the leaving/arriving times are perfect and a great rate too. I'm going to go ahead and grab the tickets today:banana: Thanks everyone!:thumbsup2

We love Jet Blue too. I am also ready to book our flights but was wondering about the credits. Aren't they good for exactly 1yr from issued? We don't travel too much, only recently to WDW.

Yes, they are good for 1 year. We had some that we were not going to be able to use. But we were able to give them to a friend who was getting married and going to WDW. It was a great wedding gift! They had actually already paid for their flight, but the Jet Blue CSR took my credits and refunded their credit card. I thought that was great! We love Jet Blue, too!

I'm seriously considering changing my return flight from Southwest to JetBlue in May just to get RAC. Has anyone flown SW one way and JB the other? I often change SW flights to get a lower fare, but I've never out-and-out canceled a flight online. I'm not sure how to go about it since on the web site there's a "Change Flight" option, but no "Cancel Flight" option. Help?

I only fly jetblue from Boston, always get direct flights. I wouldn't touch southwest with a 10ft pole.
:goodvibes

We only fly JetBlue too now that they fly non-stop from Portland, Maine to Orlando. We always leave on time or early and arrive early as well. We love JetBlue!

FIRST OFF, HELLO FELLOW NEW HAMPSHIRE PERSON!! lol Im in Southern NH

Big Jet Blue fan I am and if they come to Manchester, it would only be 15 minutes to the airport, not 1 hour.. haha

Not that, specifically - Manchester/Providence aren't nearly as convenient as Logan, so if I took Southwest one way I took it both ways.

But absolutely have flown different airlines in each direction - most recently JetBlue down, Delta back (because JetBlue didn't add a convenient return flight until after I bought my tickets). Low-cost airlines are good that way, because they sell one-way fares only - which the passenger combines to make round-trip transit. Doesn't sound like a big deal, except the legacy airlines used to, and do again with a break for a while, charge more than half the round-trip fare for one-ways (if that makes sense - the way I described it, I mean :)).

On that Delta flight, I was in the bulkhead row in coach, and could SEE the difference in the seat padding between us and First Class. Not impressed :)

That's us too. Nashua. Once the bridge is done it will be even easier. I keep voting on their site for Manchester, but it hasn't happened yet. Soon, I hope. Still worth the price of a car service to bring us to Logan for JB.

My home airport is PWM, love JetBlue as well but would be really happy if Southwest came here!

One free bag is plenty for me but SW's booking/no-fee change policy is second to none. I don't enjoy the 95-mile drive to MHT, which I am making this afternoon.

Can we trade you JB for SW? Have a good trip.

It's there, I think it's in Travel Tools. Or just put cancel flight in the search box. Keep track of your confirmation number of course so you can use it later as ticketless funds.

The Wog: Yes! let's trade. (After my JB flights PWM-MCO in May and July.)
