I was looking at flights PDX to LGB, sale price $31 one-way!
Being retired I have plenty of time to go. Sure wish my husband was a Disney fan.
Since I don't have anyone to go with, I was thinking about taking a day trip with these low rates.

I can't even fill the gas tank on the suburban for the price of a RountTripTicket....

I've never flown Jet Blue or flown into Long Beach.
I would depart from PDX.

What are the pros / cons ?

#2 would be using the best and nicest airport in the area. Much smaller than John Wayne (SNA), and the same distance (14 miles) as John Wayne. And the drive is easy, just leave the airport and head east. The exit places you on Wardlow, which changes into Ball Road. So a straight drive with no freeways required.

I really like JetBlue. The flights are on time and their snacks and drinks are unlimited, which is great for the grandkids. I like the TV in the seat back to watch TV during the flight. It also has music. LGB is even smaller than SNA. TSA is easy and actually fun at LGB.
The taxi costs a few dollars more than the ride from SNA and takes maybe 10 to 15 minutes more.

I don't really have any CONS to list. Other than SNA has a flight or two on other airlines (first flights of the day) that arrive a little earlier than the ones at LGB.

Looks like I'll have to try them "next year" ! I've only flown into SNA. Time to try something new.

We love Jet Blue! They only fly a couple of flights out of PDX but the prices are great and free snacks and drinks. We also love the long beach airport. Open air, super easy to get in and out of and virtually no lines. It's so "fun" and "different" than the rat race of most airports! Feels like vacation. LOL.

Because we need a car seat, we've always done a shuttle and the prices seem almost the same as from SNA. And a very quick drive!

out of pdx or Eugene, there is no back-up system, one plane in, same plane out, which for winter travel is a major con.

This JetBlue sale convinced us to fly v drive in Nov/Dec. We scored a $52 fare on the flight home from Long Beach to SLC. We are flying Delta there. We're paying under $1000 for the 5 of us with great flight times. I am soooooo excited to be flying now.
