Jesus wasn't resurrected

Back to the actual show...
The pace is s-l-o-w...sheesh, and about every three minutes there are a couple of commercials. I want to see the Ted Koppel discussion more than the show at this point.

agnes!

Yet, he claims that this prooves that this is the tomb of Jesus and his family? And that he had Mary Magdalene had a son? That's what I got from the TIME article posted above.

Would you please stop making my head hurt today?

:rotfl:

Thank you Tag Fairy.

If this was already mentiones...please accept my apologies.

Why didn't they do DNA testing on the "sons' remains????????????????

I missed the actual show because I was at Youth Orchestra tonight, but I started watching the Ted Koppel thing at the end. Apparently, the four other bodies didn't have the necessary amounts of DNA or something along those lines. Convenient;)

It happens, especially with 2000 YO remains. Heck, we sometimes have trouble getting enough DNA from modern cases. I'll be the first to admit the limitations of current technology.

I think what it all boils down to is that people who do not believe in Jesus as the son of God who came and died for a purpose want proof. Until they get proof, they can't believe. God will never give a universal proof, IMHO. It will only be an individual thing that is enough proof for each individual to believe. Once again, it is why it is called "faith". I think that is just the way it will be until the end and then I believe there will be the proof that people wanted and needed. JMHO.

so's the case of the missing ark that carried two by two that repopulated a planet with billions and billions of organisms.

the majority of which have all become extinct by that very time reference. :upsidedow

Ah, but if he were a mere mortal, Christians would have to actually think about the things he taught, rather than blindly accepting them because of the source. The funny part is, his teachings really wouldn't suffer for the change, as they - for the most part - still hold a high moral standard. But they wouldn't necessarily be infallible, which would force people to actually think for themselves about such things as the nature of morality.

In my opinion, even if Cameron's claims could be 100% verified as accurate, there would be a large number of people that would ignore them, simply because they don't want to give up that crutch of not having to think about things on their own.

Ok, I'm going to ask why there is no comment from the other Non-Christians on this thread about this post. If Christians are responsible to denounce rudeness by Christians to non-Christians, then it should work the same way in reverse-right?

I believe God has given me (and everyone else) free will. We choose whether or not to believe. I respect the choice of those who have chosen not to believe, and I ask only for the same in return.

It's kind of ironic IMO. Many liberals label Conservatives and mindless non-thinkers who just follow some oracle. Many conservatives are also Christians. And as demonstrated in Wvrevy's post, they are mindless followers of their faith. But oddly, quite a few liberals are devout Christians. I wonder how they are able to be "thinkers" and still have faith.

My most liberal friend is a devout Christian, a member of the Methodist church. She believes that her liberal views are directly linked to her belief in the Gospel and Jesus' teachings regarding the poor. I really admire her. She's a retired teacher, in her 60's, and she spends her time volunteering at a day care, she goes on several trips during the year to places in this country and out of it to help build houses for the poor and she's the first person to ask "What can I do to help?" when someone experiences an illness, accident or a loss. I just can't view her as some mindless drone, and I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate that kind of comparison.

:rotfl2: MANY Liberals I know have Faith! We often wonder how Conservatives have Faith!!!!:confused3

Me thinks the "Many liberals label Conservatives and mindless non-thinkers who just follow some oracle" quote is more of a 'Internet Chat thing' rather than a real life practice! Also...not so much a Oracle, more so a Fox news & Conservative radio talking points!:cool1:

Exhibit "A" folks.

Ah, yes. A reminder from from the political left that if you don't believe like them, you're a mind-numbed robot.

Frankly, I think wvrevy's point was that *some* people would believe, regardless of the proof. If god stepped from the clouds and stated that Jesus was NOT god, some people would still believe he was.

I find it ironic that you would state that anyone who does not believe like the 'left' are mind-numbed robots... yet is it not true that many people feel that if you do not worship Jesus, you will be sent to hell, no matter what good you do in life?

Funny how every side of an argument can lump people together and denounce them. Please get off the high horse. No "side" here is any better or worse than the other when it comes to that.

I'm not on a high horse, and I don't think Jimmie is either. Both of us are responding to the insult and wondering why it's ok for Christians to be called robots and accused of being unable to think for themselves. Christians on this thread have been taken to task for not responding to rude comments to non-Christians and I believe rightfully so. However, if I'm going to make an effort to denounce such rude behavior from Christians to non-Christians, then I expect to see insults to Christians from non-Christians denounced as well.

If we can't talk to each other in a civil manner here, then how can we hope to get along in RL?

What do you want me to denounce? The fact it seems that some people indeed *do* follow their church teachings whether they agree with them or not? I cannot denouce that, as it does seem that way. I know a lot of people who are pro-choice, pro-gay, etc... who are feminists, yet they still belong to a church that is against all those things. I am not stating it makes them mindless, but it certainly is hard to understand why you would belong to a church when you have such deep-seated philosphical differences.

I respect people who have deep faith, but *some* people certainly do follow the church without questioning. Can you really argue that people do not?

BTW, "faith" is accepting something without proof, accepting something as real when there is no evidence. To some who are not "faithful", that indeed may seem to be "blind faith".

After all, many people question how a group of people who denounce "magic and wicca" can turn around and believe in miracles, burning bushs, parting of the seas, walking on water, returning from the dead and being taken bodily up to the sky.

Can you not see how bizarre that seems?

I am not defending the rudeness, but honestly, that is how many people view the faithful. JUST like many faithful have stated how all of us non-faithfuls are horrible sinners destined to hell.

BTW, I do not feel that I should have to defend or not-defend anyone. I have no idea what wvrevy's beliefs are. I do not have any idea if we share one iota of similarity and I really do not care whether s/he makes un-faithful people appear rude. S/he does not represent me, any more than the next 'unfaithful' person does.

Heck, should I go out and denounce anyone who shares the same ancestry as I do, simply because we are of the same people? No. They would no more represent me as wvrevy does.

I cannot help if you lump all non-christians together. I am not responsible for what 67% of the world says or does.

The only reason people have wondered, I think, about the Christians is because when a Christian acts like a complete jerk, it *does* reflect on other Christians.

Is it fair? Perhaps not, but it is reality.

I no more represent non-christians as I do former-christians. My words are my own and I do not claim to represent *any* group.

Actually, I think *we* would get along better in RL than on here, LOL. I doubt if I met WVRevy that he'd say that comment to me in RL. It'd be rude and I just can't see him saying it. BUT, on an BB, he can easily come in and make the comment and not care about it coming off as rude. After all, we're giving thoughts and opinions and that is all he's doing. Of course, if we ever do meet, I'll know he *thinks* I'm unable to think for myself etc. even though I doubt he'd include it in our conversation.

The silence is deafening from the non-Christians, isn't it though?

LOL, I'm kidding because I don't agree that I think they should be responsible for what someone else says here. People are always being insulted etc. on BBs. I think if we walked around here flashing our blue lights everytime we saw a rude post, it'd get old. We could see one and shout, "Citizen's arrest! Citizen's arrest!" like Gomer Pyle on Andy griffith though, LOL.
