Is "Jersey Week" in November really that crowded? We usually go the week after where it is not very crowded.

Its usually verterans day week. NJ teachers hold conferences on the thurs and fri that week. So the kids only have school tues and wed so most people in NJ choose that week to go on vacation.

Jersey week got the nickname because so many families from New Jersey got to WDW that week. If you live in NJ and have kids in school, there is one week in November that has Tuesday off for veterans day, and then Thursday & Friday off for the annual state teacher convention. If you are willing to take your kids out of school for the Monday and Wednesday, then its a great week to go. Of course the decision to take your kids our of school for 2 days is made a little easier because there are so many kids out of school, that very little actual new learning is introduced on those two days.

Is it crowded? Yes, but that is a relative thing. It is certainly more crowded than the week before or the week after, but not as crowded as the middle of summer when most families with school aged children can take off and go on vacation. Is every family in New Jersey required to go to WDW by state law? Of course not - it just seems that way if you are there during Jersey Week and you were expecting very light crowds.

We thought they called it Jersey week due to the inordinate amount of BIG HAIR at the park and the run on hairspray at all the local stores that occurs in November.:rotfl:

BTW I am just kidding, family and many friends are from Jersey

Jersey week is the same week as Election Day. Teachers Convention is the Thursday and Friday of Election Day week. This year Veterans Day is the week AFTER. My kids have off 11-2 through 11-6.

So am I safe from the mass crowds the 9-13th. We've already booked that week - never heard of Jersey week before! We don't get Remembrance Day off anymore (the 11th) used to when I was a kid but not for a long time.

So how bad is it really!?!

This year every public NJ school is closed Thursday 11/5 and Friday 11/6 for the NJ Teachers Convention. Our town, until this year, has always had the Tuesday of that same week (this year that would be 11/3) for Election Day as many of the schools are used as polling places.

I have been during Jersey Week before, since I live in NJ and have school-age children, and I wouldn't say it is particularly crowded especially on the weekdays. Attendance seems to increase on weekends but I imagine this has as much to do with the Food and Wine Festival as it does to Jersey Week visitors.

Honestly, the only things I don't like about Jersey Week is you can't guarantee warm weather and we run into at least one family we know each day. Last time we were in WDW during Jersey Week, my DD's two best friends and their families were there as well, staying in the same resort! There is no escape!

We take our fall vacation during Jersey week quite often. It coincides with the final week of Food and Wine which makes it that much busier. The crowds really taper off on the Sunday after.

It isn't impossibly busy but it is busy. We tend to avoid the parks on the weekends. The World Showcase in EPCOT is really hard to navigate.

Weather has always been great. Warm but not sticky hot. We like to hang around the pool and have always managed quite a few pool days.

We're planning our 3rd Jersey Week vacation this November. Perhaps it gets a bit crowded toward the end of the week, but I'd much rather go during Jersey Week than during spring break or summer vacation! :thumbsup2

We are from Ohio, but we have actually been during Jersey week twice in the past three years. I would agree with others that the crowds pick up as the week progresses. Friday was the only day that I felt it was becoming unbearable. Earlier in the week it was great. My only other comment would be to avoid the World Showcase on the weekends. Since F & W is going on, a lot of locals come and drink, drink, drink. It is too crowded and not great for little ones. We waited in line for the Norway boat ride for 40 minutes and throughout our wait we were surrounded by tipsy 20 somethings and a lot of empty cups and trash everywhere. Pretty gross and not a Disney moment.
However, we loved the weather. Both trips we stayed from 67 to 82 degrees. You could definitely swim, wear capris/shorts, but pack a pair of jeans and some sweatshirts for the evenings. This past year we went the week before Thanksgiving and experienced record 50 year lows. Our high the entire week was 63 degrees. A trip to Old Navy for gloves, hats, blankets, and coats really saved that trip. It's no fun watching Fantasmic in 45 degree weather! :santa: The crowds were non-existent though, but no swimming that trip. Hope this helps!

We have been on Jersey Week a few times, though we don't live in Jersey. Most of the week was fine, but boy, stay away from the MK on the Friday! Lines were crazy long after about 11:00 am. Even Small World had a line. Otherwise, it's a great time to visit. Weather and crowds are wonderful.

Ive heard a lot about this, dont see the big deal i wouldnt alter vacation plans jsut because of this NJ week. Yes NJ week is week of Nov 2nd this year.

Maybe it was because the economy hit the skids but my brother was there this past november 2008 in that week and he said youd never know it was NJ week, lines werent long at all.

At the end of the NJ is only 1 of 50 states so even if many people have off that week, its just in NJ.

Thanks guys. I'd rather stick to my week after. Its just me, but I like WDW when its less crowded so why not avoid a week where it spikes?

I think every week is Jersey week :rotfl: Everytime I go to Disney World I met so many people from New Jersey....it's seems really funny to me.
