I have friends going to Disney this weekend (Fri-Tues). I have read this could be "Jersey Week". Is it Jersey Week, if it is what should they expect? Any suggestions on what days they should do what park? They are planning on doing all 4 parks. Thanks--

Jersey week really starts next Thursday (11/9). I think your friends will be in good shape crowd wise.

We are leaving this Wednesday in an attempt to beat the crowds. Jersey Week crowds will begin to arrive this weekend. The crowds will peak at teh end of next week but many people will begin to arrive this weekend. We are going to MK on Friday - that would be my suggestion to your friends. Crowds hopefully won't be too crazy yet and no EMH or Spectromagic on that day. Things will probably pick up some by Monday so hitting the popular things at the beginning of their vacation would be a good idea.

I also leave friday for Disney and return on wednesday. one of our concerns was the jersey week and how the crowds would be. but it doesn't matter now, things are paid for and we are going to have a great time NO MATTER WHAT!! (it helps that we are bringing a newbie with us too!!) and my sister will be celebrating her birthday there too. oh my...i'm getting so excited for this!!!

I'm part of the Jersey Week problem.

All public schools in the entire state are closed Thu. 11/9 and Fri. 11/10 for a state teachers' conference in Atlantic City -- therefore, I'm avoiding the REAL crowds and escaping Atlantic City for the quiet and quaint Walt Disney World.

The schools are closed on Thursday and Friday, but many people, like me, take their kids out of school for the entire week. Many teachers take vacation this week, which means many substitute teachers, which means many schools don't bother offering new or vital classroom stuff that short week.

We're going to WDW on Saturday 11/4, and leaving on Friday 11/10.

A lot of good-looking, extremely bright people clogging up the parks. ;)

And some of those extremely good looking and bright people aren't even from Jersey!!!! But I thought I would adopt it as my home state next week when I am there!!!

My mom lives in Jersey -- so I am Jersey by less than 6 degrees! :teeth:

Including my family!!!!! :goodvibes :teeth:

Some schools in NC are getting a fall break this week also. Someone mentioned that on another thread.

F.Y.I.........Anyone concerned about booking "Jersey Week" in the future, here are the dates of the teachers convention for upcoming years. Usually, for vacation purposes, parents pull their children from school the Mon., Tues., & Wed., preceeding the below dates. Hope it helps!
PS...If everyone else would just stay home, us Jersey people would have one hell of a good time! LOL

so does that mean people from Jersey go the week of november 6-10? I'm going the 11-18...I thought Jersey week was the week before.

It's not just Jersey. We were there for Jersey week in 2000 & met lots of folks from the NYC area & parts of PA as well. Alot of them said their schools were closed a couple days that week as well. If I recall correctly, it was Election day & the days on either side of it.

Can anyone from NYC or PA comment on this? Is that normal for you all, or was it a fluke that year?

We were there November 5-10 last year. Tell your friend not to worry! We walked on many rides including Dinosaur, Star Tours, BTMRR, SM, Buzz, POC and more. It was wierd because the parks felt crowded. The walkways seemed crowded, but the lines were not bad at all. Just make sure she takes some good touring tips with her! Also, we went to MK on Tuesday, but we talked to a handful of people at the pool who had tried to go to MK on Monday. Several families reported that it was so miserable that they had to leave. They talked of 2 hour long waits on attractions. :confused3 I saw nothing of the sort while I was there, but the families looked frustrated enough not to be making it up!

Hope she has fun! :daisy:

Thanks everyone---I told them not to worry about it just get to the parks early.

We'll be there!!!!!!!! We're lucky cause our school district is off from school Tuesday-Friday! So the kids are only missing one day! how could we NOT go to WDW!!!!

Our kids school district actually closes for the whole week...so we don't even have to pull the kids out of school.

The beginning of Jersey Week really isn't too crowded at all. It's when you get to Thursday..Friday...and the weekend that it gets packed.

In addition to it being Jersey Week, some schools are closed for a long weekend because the 11th is Veterans Day. Also, the 11th & 12th is the last weekend of F&W at Epcot and it's Super Soap weekend at MGM.

That's a recipe for a busy weekend at WDW!!!

In VA (atleast my part) We get 11/6,11/7, and 11/10 off...so I"m only missing 2 days!! AND my birthday is the 7th!! Sweetness! lol

Many Jersey schools that aren't closed all week are also closed on Tuesday for election day.

Hey CleveRocks--I'll be in AC for in two weeks for three days (yup--the League of Municipalities Convention). I usually head to WDW just after that, but since I just got back three weeks ago, I guess I'll be stuck in NJ!

We live on Long Island and our district has off Tuesday 11/7, 1/2 day for teacher conference day on Thursday 11/8, and Friday 11/10 for Veteran's Day. We will be there 11/5 to 11/12. I know another boy in my son's class will be there 11/3 to 11/10.
