Jersey Week: Is it really so bad?

We went to MGM on Super Soap weekend 2002, and the lines were not at all bad. Everyone was waiting to see the soap stars and ToT was a walk-on. I didn't notice any Jersey people, either. They must blend in with the crowd.

We were at WDW during "Jersey Week" last year and noticed a *marked* increase in attendance over the days of the teachers' convention. We went from a handful of people at the WL dock to a line that went all the way back to the end of the pier!! Everyone standing around us was from New Jersey (yep -- lots of time to chat! ).

We didn't enjoy the increased crowds -- we'll be avoiding that timeframe in the future.

I knew 8 families that went to WDW last year. When my friend said it was so crowded - 30 minute waits! I laughed. We have always gone in May/June where waits can be 60 to 120 minutes. 30 minutes is nothing to us. I haven't even planned out every minute because, even with Jersey week, I'm expecting it to be less crowded than what I'm used to.

This year, I only know of 2 other families going.

Last year, I was also so worried about the hotel being booked (couldn't change ressie). However, it was manageable (first week of June). I believe alot of conventions take place so that doesn't overload the parks, just the hotels.

My DGDs school is moving to a new building the first week of Nov. The school board decided to have the move coincide with the two days off for the teacher's convention. Hence, they are out of school from Nov 1-9. We are taking advantage of them being off and will be there Nov 3-8, during Jersey week. The girls birthday party is this Saturday and we are surprising them with the news that they'll be in WDW soon! I can hardly wait to tell them as I've been planning this trip for months and want to share the news.

Since Super Soap weekend is not until November 13th. The Jersey week will be a great time to go to Disney. The resort hotel may be full but the parks should be fine. Super Soap weekend is what adds the big crowds to the parks, especially MGM, not Jersey week. When the two events are on the same weekend, the Parks are very crowded, and the reduced staff and park hours due to the "off season" add to the situation. This year there is a break between the two events so there should not be a problem. Can't wait to get some Disney magic and maybe some pixie dust going my way. Who is going to be there on Jersey week?
