Time: November 1-9 including drive time to and from NJ
Today we did go to EPCOT. We went straight to Mission:Space. I ran ahead and got FastPasses. When the rest of the crew caught up with me, there was still no standby wait, so we went in and saved the FP's for a second ride.
I was extremely disappointed. I think this ride has been phenomenally overhyped. It just isn't that great. It barely qualifies as a thrill ride in my book. On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate it a 3 for thrills. I could name a dozen Disney rides that are more exciting than this. You are more likely to get motion sick on the parking lot tram. They spend so much time in the preshow warning you about the ride that you expect it to be really intense and it just isn't. I think they should tone down the warnings and then you wouldn't expect so much. Of course, that still wouldn't make the ride any better.
The one good thing is that this is a great "starter" thrill ride for little kids. My 8 year old loved it and couldn't wait to do it a second time. I went on with her. My wife, who felt about the same as I did, sat out that time. She didn't think it was worth another trip. If your kid is tall enough to ride, have no fears about taking them on. They'll be fine. The tea cups in MK are more likely to make them sick.
From Space, we did Test Track and Energy, then had lunch at the food court in the Land. Then Imagination ride - not bad but still not the original. A quick stop in Ice Station Cool - they've got a couple of new sodas - I like the Lychee Mello from Thailand. I used to buy cans of lychee juice at Millenium Village and it tastes a lot like that.
We took the clockwise path into World Showcase, starting with churros in Mexico - yum. We did the ride in Norway and I went to see the new film in China. We worked our way around, did American Adventure - my favorite Disney attraction, and did some shopping. We did Spaceship Earth on the way out, then headed back to our condo for some down time. I dropped everyone off then went over to Flipper's at Old Town to get some pizza for dinner. We just vegged for the evening since the past few days were pretty long.
