Jen & Jeff's Wedding TR ~ SBP, Ariel's--- More Randy pictures!!

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

At 6 am my phone started beeping b/c someone had sent me a text message. I was so angry that someone would text me this early the day after my wedding when everyone knows what a light sleeper I am  It was Susan saying good-bye. Why the heck was I crying about missing her last night- haha!

I feel asleep for about another hour and annoyed Jeff so much that he finally got up at 7:30. We showered and headed up to the concierge lounge for breakfast. It was so nice just to go grab breakfast, read the paper, and relax in the lounge. We were getting way too spoiled! We stopped at the concierge desk to ask them a few questions. I asked where the nearest Arribas Bros. was b/c I wanted to get Jess and Paul an engagement gift and the woman knew right off the top of her head- wow! I was impressed. Jeff and I had reservation for the 8:00 pm Spirit of Aloha show that night and Jess and Paul had been trying to get reservations for the past 2 months and couldn’t. Well wouldn’t you know the concierge helped us with that so now Jess and Paul would be joining us! Wohoo! This concierge stuff comes in pretty handy ::yes::

We went back to our room and packed up since we had to move to a non-concierge level room. Boo to that! I called all my BMs and my parents and told them how I balled last night and they all made fun of me and felt bad for Jeff, haha! Mom, Dad, Jimmy, and Andrea were still in the villa and they were watching part of the wedding video that my uncle taped. They said it was great. I wanted to go over and see it but Jeff and I had to go parasailing and they would all be off to the airport by the time we were done.

Jeff and I packed and put all of our luggage in storage b/c our new room wasn’t ready yet. Then we boarded the monorail and headed to the Contemporary to Sammy Duvall water sports for our parasailing adventure :boat: Sorry I have no pictures of this! It was A LOT of fun! We made the weight limit by 20 lbs. so we got to go up in a tandem! We paid an extra $25 to go up an extra 150 ft. which was pretty dumb, b/c the higher you went up, the shakier it got, and the more nervous I got  But it was unbelievable! We could see all of WDW! All the landmarks… the Epcot golf ball, the Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, our old hotel the BC, it was just a great experience. I highly recommend doing this together if you can!

After parasailing we walked over to the MK to get Jess and Paul their engagement gift at Arribas Bros. We picked out toasting flutes w/ Cinderella’s castle on them and we had their names engraved. We thought this was appropriate since they were getting engaged during Wishes.

We took the boat back to the GF...

Then we checked to see if our room was ready, it wasn’t!

It was after 12, so we headed up to the concierge lounge again to see if their snack offerings could work as a lunch for us. And it definitely did! They had the yummiest spinach dip ever! It must have been sooooooo bad for me but I ate it almost every day. I want it so badly now. I would seriously stay GF-RPC again just for the spinach dip. Yum, yum, yum :cloud9:

After lunch we called Jeff’s Aunt, 9 yr old cousin Augie, and his Grandma over at AsSp. His Uncle and grandpa were at some car show in Orlando and the rest of them were just spending the day by the pool. Augie had asked me to go swimming with him after our rehearsal dinner and after the wedding and I felt really bad that I couldn’t. Jeff and I thought it would be nice to have them over to our pool at the GF. His grandma and Aunt definitely found this location more enjoyable! Haha ;)

While Jeff and I were waiting for them at the pool, we were trying to see if my “just married” flip-flops that were supposed to make marks in the sand would work. They didn’t really at all. What a rip off!

Jeff and I spent the next couple of hours playing in the pool w/ his cousin and chatting w/ his Aunt and Grandma. It was really nice to see them again and I always love having a child around to play with since I often act like one myself  (Once again sorry for the no pictures, Jeff’s Aunt is supposed to be sending me them!).

Then, finally at 3:10, I get a phone call that our new room is ready. So I go to the front desk and leave Jeff w/ his family.

I go to check out our new room and wait to have our luggage delivered. Our new room was on the 5th floor on Conch Key. I opened the door and the first thing I noticed was that there were 2 queen beds when I requested a king, second thing I noticed was the over-powering smell of cigarette smoke, 3rd thing I noticed was that the walls weren’t painted and there were no curtains  What was going on? I was so angry! Granted we were getting a discount but we were still paying a lot of money to stay here and there was noooooo way I was staying in a room like this. I called down to the front desk and asked for my luggage not to be delivered. Turns out it was too late for that, darn! I tell the CM on the phone about the smoke odor and the lack of paint and curtains. Then I ask if there’s anyway I can have a king bed since that’s what I requested and it is our honeymoon after all! She says nothing, checks my reservation and says I didn’t request that so we cannot be moved. WHAT  Of course I requested that! She asked if I had a copy of that request. As you custom brides know, we book our honeymoon stays through the Weddings team and you do not get a receipt of your requests like a normal reservation does. I tell her this and she asks if I had any other “proof”. Now I am a very polite person and I was speaking very nicely and I was so upset I was being treated like this. I asked again for a king bed and she told me she’d see what she can do and she’d call back in 5 minutes. Well, 40 minutes later I still had not heard from her! I was sitting in the room all that time by myself and I left my cell phone w/ Jeff and I knew he was getting worried about me. I called the front desk back and the same CM said they still had not found a room for me. I ask her to please call my cell phone so I can leave this smelly room :sad2:

I then returned to Jeff and his family. I told him what happened and he was very upset at how the situation was handled. He even went to the front desk to ask what room I was placed in so he could check on me and they said there was no one under my name or his name staying at the GF that night :confused3 What was going on? So we went to the front desk together and they said they were completely booked and we could not change rooms :furious: I was getting sooooo upset! Our room smelled like cigarette smoke and the whole resort is supposedly non-smoking.

Then Jeff had an idea! Since we technically were allowed to use concierge services for the rest of the day, he suggested we head up to the concierge desk and see if they could help us out. It kind of felt like we were “cheating” or something but at this point, I didn’t care.

Next up- Would the concierge be able to help? And the Spirit of Aloha show!

You really know how to leave a girl hanging!!! lol :lmao:

I can't wait for your next installment. The concierge lounge sounds great! So you only get to use that when you're in a suite right?

No, we didn't have a suite, just a regular room. You have to pay for a club-level room to use the concierge services though. We just got upgraded b/c it was our free room night for DFTW :)

OK...I have completely caught up and am angry for you for how you were being treated! :scared1: That is just unacceptable, especially on your honeymoon!! I certainly hope concierge was able to help you! How can they put someone in a room that was obviously not complete?!?

Can't wait to find out what happens! popcorn:: :rolleyes1

I dont blame you I would have been mad about the room situation too!! Shane and I went to the beach last year and were suppost to be there 5 nights and left after the 2nd night because of the hassel we went through at our hotel. The first room RANK of smoke, and the second room, after literally having to kill to get it, had feces on the wall beside the bed! And it was a king size bedroom-- no kids or anything. I was literally in disgust. We had to go buy sheets and everything for the room (and it was one the, if not THE nicest hotels in that area!). SO i can relate there-- it does make you upset.. I hope concierge helped you out... i would have literally pitched a fit and spoke with managers until something else was done... thats ridiculous!!

Thats awesome that you got your friends into the Spirit of Aloha show...

Oh my goodness!! I can't believe they treated you like that--especially with the money your paying. I'd be so upset!

You left us hanging!!! Can't wait for the rest.
i'm at work and started crying when I read your report of saying bye to everyone--my co-workers now think I'm nuts. :surfweb:

Jen-did you talk to vonnie or joe in the concierge lounge? oh i hope they helped! they are tyhe best! (sad I know them by name, right? lol) the first GF pic you posted in this installment, if you look at the turret directly in the middle of the pic, top floor of floor length windows right under the red spire thing, was our room! i hope you got THAT room!!!!

i also got the just married flip flops in pink, but have never walked on teh sand in them! :lmao:

Jen- You just need to stay home tonight and finish your TR! :lmao: Forget about a movie, we want details! I would have been ticked. I cant STAND smelling smoke. Not good. I can't wait to hear how it turned out for you.

Your TR makes me wish I were a bride again! I guess there's always vow renewals!! Love all your pics, colors, dress, cake, everything. Your has been one of the best wedding TR's I've seen. I can't wait to see if concierge helped you out. My guess is, they did! They better have! CONGRATS...

Jen that really stinks that your room was messed up!! Why would they think someone on their HONEYMOON would want 2 queen beds instead of a king:confused3 ! I never knew about the parasailing at WDW...I have been once when my family went to Hawaii my sister and I went parasailing around the big island!! We went the highest you could possible go....then the driver of the boat cut the power and we started to sink down...scared us to death and right when our feet touch the ocean he powered up again and we went up up and away!! The driver called it free falling!! SO FUN!!

Aww, thats so sweet, i'm sure I will be the same way when I realize the "wedding" is all over!!! All of the pictures look great, you were such a beautiful bride! I can't wait to read more of your trip report, it sounded like you had a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Loving your TR! Great pictures and it is wonderful that you had so much fun! What a group :rotfl: !

So terrible about your situation at the GF! I know that when I am at a hotel, if it stinks, we move. I find smoking smells disgusting and being a health teacher, its just awful!!

waiting :surfweb: waiting :surfweb: still waiting ...:surfweb:

seriously, tears came to my eyes when I read your goodbye and now I'm (like the rest of us) anxiously awaiting your next post to read the outcome!

alright, I'll eat some popcorn:: while I wait :goodvibes

Michelle :cloud9:

This is such a sweet TR. I'm really enjoying it. The rice krispie favors are soo cute. (and making me hungry!) The cake table with the pretty floral setup looked gorgeous.

and I agree -- tattoo pain is very addicting! the whole time it's more of like an annoying pain and you're like "okay come on just get this over with" but as soon as you walk out of the shop you're like "gosh i really want another one!!" it's SOOO weird!

I cannot believe how poorly you were treated by that CM!!! and it is your honeymoon! That is awful... well I can't wait to hear what happened....

YAY! isn't Joe great?! i am SO glad he helped you guys out! he is definately the embodiement of the "disney magic" I just wish I could afford to go back and see him sometime soon! lol

cant wait to read more!

You mentioned that you said goodbye to Jeff and Paul-- did you mean Jess and Paul?

That show looks so fun-- i havent been since I was little. Im so glad things got worked out and Joe was accomodating! Cant wait to hear more!
