Jen and Brook's Excellent Adventure

When I had applied to the AEP, Disney wasn't giving out all the details. I knew the price, and how many meals were included. I knew we would have several seminars, some resort touring, and a tour of the Disney Dream. Also we would have some kind of a park experience.
We didn't know where we would stay and we all speculated. We were thinking CSR, since it is a conference resort. We had heard sometimes they stay at the Beach Club. Also AS Movies. So it could be any number of places.

After the shock of Skip saying "yes!", I could go.... and then being acepted as well...it all unfolded for me and I was shocked once again!

The letter of accpetance included an intinerary! Guess where they are putting us up at?.....

The Yacht Club Baby!! :worship:

I have never stayed at a Deluxe at Disney. In fact I have ONLY stayed at Pop Century.

I do love Pop, but I was very excited about trying a new fancy place out too. And no gripes from Skip about how much it was going to cost!!!! It was included in my price! We also get 5 day park hopper passes! :wizard:

Now I had to book a 1 night stay for the 14th. I always stay at Pop and love it. I knew I had to keep this cheap. I decided to spread my wings and stay somewhere new. AS Movies was not on the list of resorts we would be touring, and it's a place I have often thought about staying at. So I went wild and out of my comfort zone. :yay: After I booked it, a new offer came out for August with cheapers rates for certain dates. It started on Aug. 14th, so I called and had the discount applied. I love to save a little extra money anytime I can! :woohoo:
AS movies is refurbing right now, so I am hoping to get one of the new rooms. If not, I will live, but it would be nice. And then I can report back on how they are to my potential clients.

Ok, now everything is booked. I now need to figure out what I am going to do that first day...how to make the resort switch...and any other fun things I can think of.

Hooray for you and branching outside of your comfort zone!:thumbsup2

You are a lucky lady, I'm dreaming of staying at an Epcot resort.:cloud9: I must have details!! I know that you will give your honest opinion on what you think. Who knows, you could become a convert and not want to stay anywhere else.;)

You're going to get spoiled! We had only stayed at moderates until I managed to get two (count em TWO!)awesome pin codes that allowed us to stay at the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom.

Now I'm not sure if I will ever be able to go back!

Joining in! Looking forward to hearing you ladies have planned!

Thanks for joining in! I think we have a pretty cool agenda!

I'm becoming a wild woman!! :rotfl: I have wanted to stay around Epcot too, preferrably Beach Club, but Skip would never pay that kind of money, so I am so happy to get this chance. I'll definately give my honest opinion. I'm afraid I wll become a convert. After all I now only look at cruise pricing for rooms with Balconies. Never even cared in the past. :rolleyes1

Don't tell me that! LOL! I know that we won't be staying in deluxes in the future, but maybe if we get a pin code we can do it for a night or so. We actually had AKL booked for 1 night in Dec when we had planned to go then, but of course it didn't work out.

I have NEVER EVER gotten a pin code and I've been visiting Disney World since the 70's. I became a member of DVC in 2007, so at least since then, they KNOW they've got me. We also recently bought 100 point add-on contract for Bay Lake Tower! It is so nice.

I've stayed at Pop Century more times than I can count. I have so far only stayed at All Star Music (first on-site) 2005, Pop Century (April 2007 and more), Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Old Key West. SSR and OKW are DVC properties. I have never stayed at a Deluxe Resort that wasn't our DVC. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay at the Yacht or Beach Club. I've tried to get in with my non-home resort window of 7 months out, but never could get in. I love the theme there and the location close to World Showcase. I'm a big fan of the EPCOT food and drink!

I know. I keep making several different plans in my head, but I have too many things planned...so I will be counting on your help to narrow it down.

Today, as I was babysitting a couple of rambuncous kids , not counting Kadence), I was daydreaming about what I would do with an alone day at Disney.

I have narrowed it down to 2 ideas.

1- Tour the World Showcase. Just take the time to really see each country, maybe a snack or 5;) Taking photos of everything, and just taking it all in.

2-Resort hop. (but since you're going to be doing that with the program, I supose that would be lower on your list) I'd love to check out all the lobbies, and landscaping.

I'm that lady in the line who talks to everybody!! :rotfl2: So I'm never "really" alone! :rotfl:

I used to get them all the time, then last summer they abruptly stopped and I haven't seen one since.

I always thought about resort hopping as well. I am planning on going to Epcot early on the 15th and maybe doing the countried until its time to meet up.

I do that too, but it's fun a you ar still alone ,but making new friends!

I must confess, I will hardly ever start up a conversation with someone, I guess I'm afraid of bothering people. But if you start talking to me, gosh, I'm your new friend!:flower3:

Sheesh! I stop for a couple days to sew and look where it gets me.....page FOUR!

Pathetic....... I promise I'll do better! :surfweb:

You are sooooo funny! I almost forgot to laugh! :lmao:

I REALLY wanted to bring you this time along, but you know, it's for agents only! Sorry...maybe next time. :rotfl:

I think you should start planning your next trip though . I loved reading about your last one!

Thanks so much for joining in...And Welcome to the Dis! princess:

I forgot you were goin in the Fall too. How could I forget that? I hope you do a Tr about it. You look like such a fun couple!

You can do the agent thing, I will sleep on the floor. (that way skip won't get mad):rotfl2:

As far as planning for the next trip, I would be glad too, all I need is free airfare, plus free room, toss in a free dining plan, and free park hopper tickets for 4 and I'm there.

I see you are staying at AS Movies. We stayed there in 2007. The decor is pretty cool, similar to what you have at POP, oversized characters and displays. Great for kids too.

I think it's because I'm a smoker....yes...bow my head in shame.....I tend to talk to people in the smoking sections or they talk to me. Also if you in line for awhile someone will say something randomly and you may comment on it. LOL!

Wow, page 4 already! I'm in now to catch up.

Thanks for joining in!!!!

:rotfl: I am so behind in my subscribed threads, so don't feel bad.

I am joining the fun. I look forward to reading about your next Disney adventure.

Thanks! I hope this is another fabulous trip.. But it should be, I won't be home and that usually means it's better than everyday life! :thumbsup2

LOL! You always are thinking!!!
I have thought about staying there for awhile now, but we love Pop and actually I didn't want to confuse Skip with anything new. He kind of knows his way around Pop now. But the Pop prices keep going up, so we may be moving over to AS Movies next time ...if I like it.

You're going to get spoiled! We had only stayed at moderates until I managed to get two (count em TWO!)awesome pin codes that allowed us to stay at the Polynesian and Animal Kingdom.

Now I'm not sure if I will ever be able to go back!

After two stays at Coronado Springs (which we loved, btw), we are finally getting to stay at the Beach Club in two weeks! We are so excited, but I'm worried we're going to get spoiled, particularly by the proximity to EPCOT.

We've also never stayed deluxe! :goodvibes We were only able to this time because we got a discount for the deluxes, not the mods or values. :confused3 Oh well..worked in our favor, for sure!

Jen, we'd be in BIG trouble if we ended up in line together. We'd probably get so deep in conversation we'd forget to to move up with the line! I love chatting Disney with people around me. Around here everyone gets pretty tired of it........ :rolleyes1

I thought the same thing about you getting spoiled staying at a deluxe for the first time. But then I thought about my own experience. I usually stay at the POP but have stayed at a variety of other resorts along the way. We've stayed at the Contemporary a couple times, AKL once, and Coronado Springs. In DL we've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian.

But I don't feel bad at all going back to the POP once again this year. Because I know our budget, and I know I can have a longer trip if I stay at the POP. And we're ALL about the park time. So if the POP gets us more days, there's no choice. MORE DAYS it is! :dance3:

Yeah, I need those things too. I could let the free room go and use DVC points I guess... Can you help with the airfare and tickets?;)

What are you making? I would like to have some time to make myself one of those maxi dresses that are all the rage again. I have old patterns and even old fabric.... now... just the time. I have red and white polka dot fabric that I swear I am going to make DD9 a Minnie sundress... but I'm running out of time. Where does the time go? :confused3

Uh oh!! I just caught the part where you said you're a smoker!! I'm the anti-smoking drama queen, hands around throat, coughing .....dying.... I once made Pop move me (I requested 1st floor) from the 1st floor lakeside room to the courtyard side 2nd floor other end of building because I wanted to be as far away as possible from people smoking. They smoke by the lake. Ok.. every time you smoke... I get a Margarita!! :rotfl:

I can talk to a wall sometimes. I don't think I would be completely spoiled by Delixes either. I do like Pop a LOT! and we spend most of our time at the parks. So if we paid for deluxe I kind of feel like we would be wasting it if we didn't spend more time at the resort. Skip is all about cheap!!!! :rotfl:

:rotfl:

I think we all want that. LOL! The price of this trip was actually amazing though. I wish I could go for that amount all the time.

She makes FABULOUS costumes!

I know.. I am bowing in shame now! :guilty: I do try to be respectufl and go in the designated spots. I also will have smelly hand sanitizer to use after.....and I can go really long times in between when on vacation too. I was also thinking of getting a little perfume spray to spray myself after I have committed the sin! :littleangel: But you go for the margaritas! Then you won't smell anything at all!! :rotfl:

At Pop, I have asked twice now about the smoking sections...to be sure they hadn't changed, and both times they have told me that you can smoke anywhere around the lake. Now I know there are little designated spots listed, but they always tell me anywhere around the lake. If I am in that area, I do try to keep away from anyone that may come walking by me though. It has been early in the morning, so not many people around there anways. But yeah, a room by the lake, wouldn't be ideal for someone who doesn't like smoke.

The thing about saying "well, how much time do you spend in the resorts anyway?".... if you ARE staying in a deluxe resort since it IS deluxe, you are more likely to hang around the resort for time there. I do enjoy relaxing by the pool with a pina colada in my hand. In fact, at Saratoga, I brought wine glasses and a bottle of wine to the pool. I would not have done that at Pop. Pop's pool bar doesn't have food and snacks like the deluxe pools do. Although the drink menu is the same. :confused3 and if your resort doesn't HAVE a spa, you're so much less likely to take in some spa time. I have stayed at Pop more times than I can count, and when we stay there, I don't spend too much time "enjoying" the resort.. but we do at Saratoga. I plan on spending time at SAB while we're at the YC! I understand that both YC and BC can use SAB. You will find me in a swim ring floating along the river that they have around the pool.
