Jen and Brook's Excellent Adventure

I need new sunglasses, but I am super cheap when it comes to buying them. and picky about how they fit.

I am picky too. I hate paying much for them as when I do those are the ones I break fastest. I also can't do the ones that are big. My face looks awful in those.
I still have my favorites, but they are getting where I think they may lose a side soon. a little wiggly. The ones I bought yesterday weren't my favorites, but they were about $11. The ones I really liked were $20.49 on sale, and I couldn't justify paying that much.

These are my favorites that I have had a few years. I hope they don't break, but I think they may soon and need to get prepared.

I've been that person, pulling a pound of stuff out of the bag on the floor of the airport and shoving it into the carry-ons.

My MIL has a tendency to buy stuff all during the year for the kids (a t-shirt here, a little toy there) and expect me to pack it all up and bring it home from Florida with us. Even though our suitcases are already at capacity.

I've gotten DH to tell her either ship the stuff to us or quit buying it all together, since we don't want to lug it all home.

I haven't had to yet, but I can see me doing it. My sister does it almost every trip. Once she had to buy another bag.
I agree, why doens't she just ship it to you.

That is SO me. I have been in the airport with my bags open, pulling things out of here and putting them there...trying to rearrange bags to distribute the weight. I once had a lady come up to me and ask, "What are you selling, Dear?"

Thats so funny!

there is a big difference between 40 and 50lb. wish you luck :lmao:

Yes there is.
I have slowly been reading your TR over the past few days when I get an extra minute. I'm only on day 2, but I am LOVING it!

I've got a month yet, but I need to get in gear & get my lists finalized. I also need ot start packing as I will be terribly busy this month. We have a major event Labor day weekend & I'm one of the busiest chairmen. On top of that I have to make someone a new gown to wear & get mine finished!

So much to do & so little time to get it done.:sad2:

Love that Claire is wanting to do her packing. She will have a good time with grandma!

We got the packing started today. But mostly hers. I had to iron the school uniforms and she got bored with it after that. I pulled out some shoes for her I had bought a few weeks ago for school/gym and she was so excited. She wants to wear a different pair each day, but I told her she could only take 2 pairs to grandmas plus the ones on her feet.
I wish I could sew. I would be creating masterpeices all the time. :rotfl:

Today I broke out in some weird rash. It's along my jawline on one side of my face on on one of my arms. This better go away in 9 days!!!!!! I took some benedryl tonight and hopefully that will help it. The cortisone I used earlier doesn't seem to dbe doing anything.

I showed my rash to Skip and he thinks it's poisen ivy. Oh goodie! :headache:

Yuck! Good luck in getting it cleared up!

Our problem with packing is DH's shoe fetish. His size 15 sneakers weigh a ton, and its difficult to buy him more.

We always shop at the Nike outlet in Orlando, and end up buying multiple pairs (5-6) every couple of years.

Two years ago we had to pack a pair in everyones suitcase to distribute all the weight. This year my mom's boss was in FL at the same time but driving, so they drove the 6 pairs back to OH for us! :rotfl:

OH man, no more trip report shirking for me. I have JOB to do!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Jen, I'm sorry to report we have a bad banana in the bunch. I'll have a chat with him and eat him by tomorrow. Well, I actually hate bananas, but I'll get one of the kids to do it for me.....

I used to get poison ivy so bad it would get into the my blood system. Go to the pharmacy and ask them if they have any Ivarest. If they don't, then get some Aveeno lotion. Ivarest used to clear up my poison ivy when nothing else would.

Oh my! My DH has about 3 paris of shoes. 1 pair of boots, 1 pr tennis shoes (which he just convereted to work shoes, so now he has NONE to wear for normal days) and a pair of dressier shoes. I told him I would buy him hne wtniis shoes, but he says I buy him clearance junk...which is not true. The last pair was Aisics (sp?). But he tells me a size and then I buy it, come hone and he tells me the yare too small. EVERY time, so I don't even really want to biuy him shoes.

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!!!!
:banana::cool1::dance3::yay::cheer2:

YES!!!!!

Poison Ivy! :scared1: I've heard rubbing alcohol dabbed on it works well! Good Luck!:flower3:

I have some prescriptopn cortisone that seems to slightly helping. I did put peroxid on it yesterday too.

I'm not sure if it is ...for sure, but I'm guessing it is. I had it a few times when I was young, but I don't remember it at all. I have been taking the benedryl and using strong prescription cortisone and it seems to be helping. We are off to go tractorpulling her in the next hour or I would run to the pharmacy. I'll do it tomorrow I guess. I need more benedryl too. I thought I had some more, but now I can't find it. I think Skip used it all. He's famous for finding my secret stashes.

Sounds like a fun trip. I hope the poison ivy clears up. I had it once on the top of my foot.

I thought of this trip report when I was driving for work today and I past a target. I think there are 4 targets within 15 mintues of my office.

I see you are in Northern Ohio. Are you far from the Grove City Outlets in Grove City, PA? Its about 15 minutes after you cross the border into PA on 80. My brother lives a couple miles from the outlets. They have a pretty big Nike outlet there that has a great selection of shoes. Also, there is a shoe store in Sharon, PA called Reyers. They are a few blocks from the state line. They brag to have the biggest selection of shoes in the world. I've heard they provide the shoes for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Those may be some options for your DH if you don't want to lug shoes from FL. Sharon and Grove City are not that far apart. You could try both places easily.

We are about 2-2.5 hours from PA, right in the middle of the state!

It's actually become a bit of a game to us. My parents own a timeshare in Orlando, so we go every year. He always would find a pair or two.

A couple years ago we noticed there weren't many out in the big sizes. DH asked a clerk, and he said he'd get some from "upstairs". A couple of questions for him about style preference, and off he went. Well I never knew there was an upstairs. We're sitting there waiting, waiting, waiting, and about 20 minutes later the fella rolls up with a 2 wheeled dolly stacked with about 10 pairs.

DH was in shoe NIRVANA!

The clerk made a second trip and said, if you find multiple pairs, we'll make a deal. 5 pairs later, he walks out of there minus only $120. Yep! $120 for 5 pair of Nikes in size 15! :cool1::cool1:

It was enough to last him for 2 years, so this year, we went back and asked for the same guy. He got promoted, but the others were more than helpful.

THis time the guy came down with a small flatbed cart and DH got 6 pairs for about $180.

They give a "large size" discount if you buy multiple pairs as they know how difficult it is to find shoes.

Also, DH is SOOOOO picky about shoes. He's worse than any woman. It takes him hours to decide. He inspects every seam, tries them on twice, and even smells the shoes before he buys them!

He would probably never let me drag him 2.5 hours in OH to an outlet, but in FL, there are 5 within 15 minutes of the condo. (The one on 192 near Celebration is the best though :goodvibes).

I think part of it is drying up, but the stuff on my face might've actually spread a little more.

:woohoo: :woohoo:

I'm getting a few things done for the trip now. I have formatted all my camera cards, well the ones that needed it, since I got some new ones. And I took a picture on every single card of my address. Hopefully nothing will get lost this time around, but I feel better having my address on each one if it does. I also wrote my phone number on each on.
I kind of gather what I need to take besides clothing and assessed what I need to get yet, which isn't much. I think most can be found around the house.

That is a GREAT idea about taking a picture of your address and putting your phone number on it! If I found one and saw a phone number, I would call it. And if the person told me their address was the first picture of the card, I would more than happily send it onto them. I think I will do the same for our cards. :thumbsup2

One week from today I'll be at Animal Kingdom. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Yeah for getting your name into your cards! Did you protect the image? If you do, it won't erase when you erase the card. Do keep in mind that you will lose it when you reformat though.

Did you actually write your number on the card like with a Sharpie? I need to do that. Is there really room?

Time for your 8 day dance!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Well, sorry to report we apparently ate the wrong banana yesterday as there is still a bad one in the bunch.

A week and a day though! YEAH!

I would to Brook. After losing one and knowing how it feels, I would be more than happy to send it to someone.

I don't know how to protect it. I guess I never did that before. I don't usually erase all at once, just 1 at a time, so I should be goo there.
I did use a sharpie. A really thin tipped one. On the SD cards it was hard, but it's there. on the CF cards there is much more room and a spot for notes (though it's small too) I could get my name and phone number on those.

Those darn bananas just keep spoiling. Before long there won't be a good one left!

There's a "protect images" option on my Canon in the menu. I think if you have just the one image on your card, then go into menu and select that, it will give you the option of protecting what is there. I erase my entire card fairly often and the address photo stays. I think pretty soon I'll reformat again, and will have to take the photo again.

I'll keep hunting for that bad banana. Want me to just have the kids eat them all? Would you be ready to leave that soon? :rotfl:

I'm at the one week mark today.
I started getting more serious about packing and I got scared. I weighed the bag, which is not full yet and it was at 29 pounds. My limit on spirit is 40. I packed a trial run of my backpack. I still couldn't fit in all I wanted to. I could pack it in the checked luggage, but some of it was stuff I really didn't want to chance getting broken (Like my zoom camera lens)
So I broke down and paid for a carry on today. I can have more stuff with me that I worry about. I will pack my tripod in it as well so I will have that for sure and no worries if the luggage is late.
I also was worried about getting stuff home. I don't plan on buying a lot, but what if I buy more than I plan and it makes the bag too heavy.
