Jello & Pretzel Dessert?

I was watching The View this morning and Elisabeth was talking about a jello dessert she makes for her husband Tim where the pretzels are IN the Jello... and perhaps there's whipped cream, IDK if I heard that correctly.

Has anyone tried this dessert? It sounds gross to me but I'm also intrigued. Is it good?

It's yummy!!
I have a friend who asks me to make this everytime she comes up to visit.
The recipe I use has a pretzel crust (made the same way a graham cracker crust is made) a jello/fresh strawberry layer, and a cream cheese/cool whip topping. I like to make it when we are barbequeing things like chicken or ribs.

See, in my head I was thinking some jello mold with pretzels floating in it...

That makes a lot more sense the way you described it. So, what kind of shape/container is it made in? Is the jello chilled over the pretzel or do you add it later?

this is one of our favorite summer recipes. http://www.recipezaar.com/Pretzel-Jello-Salad-230754

Hmmm I don't like pretzels or jello so I doubt I'd be a fan. Of course I don't like Elizabeth Hasselbeck either and probably wouldn't ever try anything she'd ever suggest! LOL! My dad LOVES the jello pretzel stuff though.

I heard that too and I was "Huh????"

Now that I've seen it described here though it doesn't sound bad..:goodvibes

I haven't had this in forever. My boys don't like it so there is no reason to make it. I worked with a woman who would make this for every food day. She mixed in chopped pecans into the pretzel mix. So good.

We love that salad!! wouldn't be a holiday without it. We make the Paula Deen recipe.
Oh, and I always have to explain to people that it's a salad because it has fruit in it... not a dessert. Some people just don't get the southern rules for food here in Colorado.

I make this recipe in my 9x13 baking dish. But instead of a pretzel bottom, I substitue the pretzels with Lorna Doone shortbread cookies. Now I have people requesting this whenever I am invited to a party.

This is my favorite dessert! (I hate Jello, so I'm not sure why I like it so much.) I always take it summer parties, and it's gone when the party is over. Good stuff!

I was craving it the other day, so I have all the ingredients to make it. I was going to make it for today, but my mom named a huge list of desserts when I asked her what we were having.

Too bad, it's great give it a try (and I love Elizabeth)!

This shows me that no matter what people do with jello, you can always find someone who'll eat it:rolleyes1:confused3

I've had the jello pretzel salad with the pretzels actually kind of in it. or on top. It does sound gross but it's yum!

Thanks everyone!

I think I might try it for Christmas, it sounds pretty good now that I can see the recipe... thanks again.

It is DEEEE-STINKIN-LICIOUS. I'm required to make this at every holiday get-together; it's nice to have something *I* make that people look forward to. Not easy with two chefs in the family!
