Jedi training question

I understand it is first come first serve to sign up for spots. What's the norm? if we want a morning spot do we need to be there for rope drop? What tends to be the most coveted spots?

This is for august, if that matters. The only thing we want to do at HS is toy story, playhouse disney and Jedi training. We have lunch reservations at 50s prime time at 11:30. How should we do this?

Most people want the afternoon slots so they can ride Toy Story, TOT and Roller Coaster in the AM before wait times go through the roof. Definitely be there for rope drop no matter what time you're trying for! Line up in the queue directly next to the morning ADR early entrance line as they will occasionally, but not always, let Jedi signups in early to start lining up.

I could use some advice on the best strategy. The only PPO ADR I could get was 8:45, is this too late? If we show up at like 8 will they let us in to sign up for Jedi Training before our ADR? I'm wondering it it's better to just try for Rope Drop instead?

I think you need to be there BEFORE rope drop if you want a morning spot! We were there 30 minutes before opening and The first show was already taken when we got to the front of the line. You really want either the 10:10 or 10:40 with a fall back of 11:10 (you might be a few minutes late for lunch but in the grace period?), so you need to be there pronto!

We watched the 10:10 and had to line up at 10:40 for our 11:10 show (30 min before). One thing I will say is that it got hot quickly over that hour! I imagine August even hotter! So prepare accordingly - not a lot of shade at JTA! Will you have FP for the other activities? If not - hopefully the new track is open for TSM by then and you can manage to get all of these things done! The JTA experience is almost an hour start to finish (50 minutes plus walking to/from there) and sign ups will take you until 9:15. That will give you about an hour to get TSM or Disney Jr done. I think you should also consider the Star Wars shows - Captain Phasmas March is very well done! Can't remember the timing of the first one but you might be able to squeeze that in after JTA before lunch!

You should be able to sign up at 8:40 before you ADR in this case! Plan to get in by 8:15 so you have time!

I agree you should be at the park 30-40 min prior to scheduled open. Personally, in your shoes, I'd want to sign up for a show about 2 hours after your ADR - giving you 90 minutes for lunch (allows plenty to eat leisurely, assure you see all characters, and still arrive the requisite 30 min before show time). Then you can get through sign ups, do your desired activities the rest of the morning, then lunch and Jedi.

The park opened at 8:35 for us Thurs which I think is rare. We were 3rd in line at our tapstile (having arrived a few minutes after 8) and there were many people (I assume with ADRs) in line before us. The first 2 shows were filled. If you want a show first thing, I'd suggest an early ADR or get to the park early and go fast.
