Just read on AllEars.......The Jedi Training Academy, a show usually performed during the annual Star Wars Weekends at the Disney-MGM Studios, is now presented daily beginning yesterday, March 27. Young Jedi Knights are selected at random to be instructed by the Jedi Master on how to use the light saber made popular in the Star Wars movies. Show times, held in front of the Star Tours attraction, are: 10:50 and 11:40 a.m. and 12:40, 1:30, 2:40, 3:10, 4:40, and 5:30 p.m.

now I do not have to go on Star Wars weekend to let my son see this. WOO-HOO!! princess:

Where did you find this info? I have been all over on AllEars and haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.

Darn... it's only until June 11th!!! :sad2:

This will be my son's dream come true. Hopefully, it is permanent.

My info came from the weekly email from ALLEARS.
It did not mention that it would end on June 11.
Let's hope that it will stay beyond that. princess:

Great news! My 7 year old ds would love to do this! For those who have seen it or participated, any thoughts on how to get picked? How early do you have to be there? I suppose wearing his Star Wars t-shirt that day might be a start!

My 5 yr old recently got into SW. He will love this :darth: :ewok: :chewy: Do they have any really cool souvieners?? How bad is Star Tours?? Can a 5 yr old (he is 52 ins tall) ride alright? Is it very rough???
PS Should he bring his own lightsaber from home????

I'd say no issue for a 5 year old (my son went on it at 4 - he just missed the height so we shoved paper towels in the heels of his sneakers and he made it - PHEW!)

We didn't bring much with us (like a light saber) since it's only 1 attraction in the park (and I didn't want to lug a light saber all day).

We're GIANT Star Wars fans in our house (well, at least the 6 and 7 year old boys....although I admit I enjoy it too).

Have a blast!

No, they provide the plastic light sabers.

After you successfully duel the Darths (either Vader and Maul, depending on if you are on the stage - you get Vader; or if you are on the area in front of the stage -you get Maul), the kids get a certificate and a small Star Wars figure toy. Our son still treasures his certificate!!!

That is excellent new for us since we are going just before star wars weekends. my 2 boys love star wars and will certainly have a blast at this one. I hope they get picked to participate

My DS6 LOVES the Star Tours ride. In fact, it's his favorite! He's been going on it since he was about 3. *I* on the other hand, hate it because I'm claustrophobic and it shakes you around a lot. My DD3 had no issues with it.
