DS and DD want to try this on our trip Thanksgiving week. I'd love to hear DISers experiences and how JTA works. Thanks!

Here is standard info regarding JTA: JTA is a permanent show at DHS. If you are staying at an onsite resort, plan on going to DHS on an EMH morning and as soon as the gates open, head directly to JTA sign-ups with your child. If you aren't staying onsite, go on a non-EMH morning and get to the gates at least 45 minutes before park opening Sign-ups are in the Sounds Dangerous/ABC Sound Studio building. The CM will ask your child some questions and will assign him a session which fits into your FP and Dining schedule. Your child will need to report back approximately 30 minutes before his session. Try to sign the kids up for a morning session. Because of the weather, JTA is often canceled in the afternoons. If the session does get canceled, a brief meet and greet with Vader and Stormtroopers will take place. 9:20, 10:10, 11:00 & 11:50am, 12:35, 1:05, 1:50, 2:40, 3:25, 4:10, 4:40, 5:30, 6:20*, 7:10* & 8:00pm* *Not on Tuesday, no 8:00pm Thursday Space is limited, and participants (ages 4-12) must be present to register. Please see a Cast Member at the ABC Sound Studio early in the day to make same-day reservations.
How quickly do these spots typically fill up? DS and I were going to ride TSM while DH and DD ride RNR. After that, say arriving by 9:30 to sign up, would we still have a chance at an early afternoon time?

From what I experienced? Absolutely not. Attempt #1: We got in line at 9:05am behind a massive group of people, waited an hour and got the 4:20 show which was rained, or should I say "sprinkled" out. They will cancel this show at the drop of a hat if it so much as sprinkles, trust me on this. Then it becomes a meet and greet backstage. Attempt #2: Got there at 8:15 am, were the first ones through the turnstile and the second family to sign up. We picked the 10:10 show, whatever the second show is so the rest of our family would have time to show up and watch. Went beautifully…..no wait (except for park opening, obviously), blue skies and a successful show.
That was helpful. ThanksHave you done a search in this forum? We've never done it but I have seen countless posts on the subject.
We did JTA Thanksgiving week 2010. They had expanded it for extra kids by adding Darth Maul on the lower level (crowds were pushed back). So, first set of kids were fighting Darth Vader and at the same time 2nd set of kids were fighting Darth Maul. Made it harder for parents of Darth Vader kids to get good photos (so definitely get Memory Maker or order the CD of all images).
I am not sure if you can ask to fight Darth Maul or not. Ours just did, and next trip (May 2012) they fought Darth Vader.
How long did you have to wait in line to sign up once you were in the park?Did it yesterday. Got to the park at 8, they let Us in at 8:45. Got the 1:00 we wanted but the earliest we could get was 11
