Have you done a search in this forum? We've never done it but I have seen countless posts on the subject.

DS and DD want to try this on our trip Thanksgiving week. I'd love to hear DISers experiences and how JTA works. Thanks!

Here is standard info regarding JTA:

JTA is a permanent show at DHS. If you are staying at an onsite resort, plan on going to DHS on an EMH morning and as soon as the gates open, head directly to JTA sign-ups with your child. If you aren't staying onsite, go on a non-EMH morning and get to the gates at least 45 minutes before park opening

Sign-ups are in the Sounds Dangerous/ABC Sound Studio building. The CM will ask your child some questions and will assign him a session which fits into your FP and Dining schedule. Your child will need to report back approximately 30 minutes before his session.

Try to sign the kids up for a morning session. Because of the weather, JTA is often canceled in the afternoons. If the session does get canceled, a brief meet and greet with Vader and Stormtroopers will take place.

9:20, 10:10, 11:00 & 11:50am, 12:35, 1:05, 1:50, 2:40, 3:25, 4:10, 4:40, 5:30, 6:20*, 7:10* & 8:00pm*
*Not on Tuesday, no 8:00pm Thursday
Space is limited, and participants (ages 4-12) must be present to register. Please see a Cast Member at the ABC Sound Studio early in the day to make same-day reservations.

We have a choice between non EMH and an EMH day. Would EMH be better for Jedi training? This would be dec 20 or dec 21.

Yes, choose the EMH day and you'll have the best chance of getting the session of your choice.

This is what I recommend...When you arrive at a turnstile, obviously you want to be as close to the front as possible. So, lets say you are there really early, like 8:05 and you can choose either side of a "turnstile" don't put more than two people on one side. If you have three people in your group, put two on one side and one on the other..That way, then the park does "open", you're all scanning at the same time.

Once you do that make your way all the way down to the hat and then take a left where you will be stopped. Try and line up as much to the left as possible. People will come in after you and line up to the right and some even in front of you, but when they remove the ropes the left side has usually been the first to go through (I think they know this is where the people who got there first line up).

I was the in the third group on the left hand side and within 5 minutes they probably had another 15 families to my right, but I was the third person to register and we easily got into the 9:20 show.

Additionally, here is tons of information on Jedi Training from the search function on the forum: http://www.disboards.com/search.php?searchid=53738222

There is no longer an "opening show" at DHS so no more roped area at the Hat. Just head directly to JTA sign-ups as soon as you enter the park.

How quickly do these spots typically fill up? DS and I were going to ride TSM while DH and DD ride RNR. After that, say arriving by 9:30 to sign up, would we still have a chance at an early afternoon time?

Depending on when you are visiting, you may be lucky to get an evening slot or even be put on the wait-list. Arriving 30 minutes after park opening, you may find yourself waiting in a 45-60 minute line just to sign-up. If Jedi isn't a priority, then doing the rides first will be okay.

From what I experienced?

Absolutely not.

Attempt #1: We got in line at 9:05am behind a massive group of people, waited an hour and got the 4:20 show which was rained, or should I say "sprinkled" out. They will cancel this show at the drop of a hat if it so much as sprinkles, trust me on this. Then it becomes a meet and greet backstage.

Attempt #2: Got there at 8:15 am, were the first ones through the turnstile and the second family to sign up. We picked the 10:10 show, whatever the second show is so the rest of our family would have time to show up and watch. Went beautifully…..no wait (except for park opening, obviously), blue skies and a successful show.

DS did this on our last trip and LOVED it!!! We had gone during a slower time and didn't think we'd get it, so we didn't try. We were actually walking by on our way to something else and they asked him... :)

At the time he was taking a Jedi Training course at home through our local YMCA and when we went home and shared his experience he was a local hero with everyone else in the class!!

The show was so funny!! My stomach hurt from laughing at everything... They had the smallest of kids doing it to the older ones and it was a hit with everyone!

Looks like we will go straight to sign up! Thanks!

We did JTA Thanksgiving week 2010. They had expanded it for extra kids by adding Darth Maul on the lower level (crowds were pushed back). So, first set of kids were fighting Darth Vader and at the same time 2nd set of kids were fighting Darth Maul. Made it harder for parents of Darth Vader kids to get good photos (so definitely get Memory Maker or order the CD of all images).

I am not sure if you can ask to fight Darth Maul or not. Ours just did, and next trip (May 2012) they fought Darth Vader.

We got there before Opening, ran straight for the sign ups and still didn't get a spot until noon.

My boys LOVED it and want to do it again on our next visit. Seriously it was the highlight of their trip. That and fighting Captain Jack Sparrow at Magic Kingdom.

Did it yesterday. Got to the park at 8, they let Us in at 8:45. Got the 1:00 we wanted but the earliest we could get was 11

How long did you have to wait in line to sign up once you were in the park?

About 15 minutes I think

Now that things are back to normal at DHS RD, as guests trickle into the park, they also trickle into JTA signups, so you're not likely to see the long waits and huge backups that we had to endure this summer when the Frozen opening show screwed everything up. There will be some backup, but the lines we saw this summer were insane.

We were there two weeks ago at park opening and waited almost an hour to sign up (very low crowd level day in late Sept.)
