Jedi Training Academy: got a call from guest services

I recently emailed guest services to voice my disappointment about the "refurb" of Jedi Training Academy with nothing in its place for October and November. I wasn't looking for anything personally with my note, I was just hoping that if they heard from enough people, they might consider adding a Vader meet and greet somewhere inside of Hollywood Studios. I got a call back today, and was told that nothing has been added yet, but they are hearing from LOTS of people and the disappointment has been noted. She did offer me a second fast pass for Star Tours too, which was nice. So if you're in the same boat that you have a son or daughter who is missing the chance to fight Vader because of an October or November trip, let them know! It would be great if Disney heard from enough people and added a meet and greet, right?

That is awesome! I was going to wait until October 4th, but I'll probably go ahead and write in now.

This is also the first official confirmation we've had from Disney that JTA will in fact be closing.

That's interesting someone at Disney is finally admitting that JTA will be closing in October. I have a contact person at Disney who handled another complaint I had, and I called her a couple of weeks ago to inquire about the JTA rumor. She of course said that this is just a rumor and they do not plan to close JTA while they are redoing it for the new show. (I did not believe her and really trust the rumor of the Oct 4th closing date.) When it does actually close on Oct 4th, I definitely plan to call back and complain. I will also be writing an email.

It would also be wonderful if they'd at least add a meet n greet with Vadar.

I wouldn't count on it. Guest services is great at lip service.

Imagine the crowds Vader would have since anyone could partake.

I know this is totally hearsay, but I actually talked to some entertainment CMs last week and they were talking about the fact that it is closing, but its good news if you like Darth Vader......

I emailed when the rumour first came out and was told there was no scheduled closing. I only emailed because this is important to us with having 3 boys and given the closing of Hiro and Baymax.

Thanks for posting this. What's the email address? I would like to let them know how disappointed I am because JTA is my sons favorite thing to do in Disney.

You can contact Guest Services through Contact Us in the website. I've contacted them a couple of times in the last few years and have always received a response. The last time I contacted them (about MNSSHP), the GS person mentioned they share it with leadership. So, if you want something to happen, you need to contact them.

Did I miss confirmation that Vader will not be there in October and November or is it just a rumor?

It's confirmed. JTA ends on October 4th.

It will be replaced by a new show.

Oh man, how did I miss that one?! I"ll have 2 bummed out boys and I'm sure many other disappointed kiddos. What's the new show?

I have no doubt of the validity of this claim as there have been a lot of reliable sources stating this. That said, has there been any public confirmation yet? Seems like they should be announcing this since these dates are less than two weeks away.

A new show??? We're going in Dec and JTA is all my son talks about! I'm in trouble if it doesn't reopen...

It is still going to be JTA, but a different JTA. Supposedly, it is going to be based more on the Star Wars Rebels TV show than the movies. I believe that it is supposed to re-open by December but I am not 100% sure.

Also, keep in mind, while there have been substantial rumors about this, and people are now saying that CMs are confirming when you call, there has been no OFFICIAL release regarding this yet. That being said, I have already told my son that it is going to be closed when we go. This way the disappointment is already over with, and it turns out that it is open when we get there, it will be a great surprise for him.

This is one of the reasons that I try (and often fail because I am usually as excited as the kids) not to hype up any particular attraction too much, you never know what is going to be re-done, broke, gone, etc.

The problem is that Disney doesn't always announce closures or changes.
Duffy Bear is leaving Oct 3rd. -no official announcement
Mulch Sweat and Shears ending their run Oct. 10th no announcement
just to name 2 that are happening in the next 3 weeks.
JTA entertainment CM have been told already it's closing Oct 3rd (last day of JTA as we know it) Disney announced during D23 that a new "reimagined" JTA would open with SW Rebel characters, there's an open audition call on the Disney audition website for a people for this new show. It's happening for sure. The new show is opening in December but no one knows the exact date

I don't doubt that it is happening. I am 99% sure that it is. I was just trying to point out, that despite people saying it is now confirmed. It is not really confirmed as Disney has not publicly said anything. I know CMs on the phone have "confirmed" but you don't need to look at these boards too hard to realize how something a phone CM says should not be taken as confirmation of anything.
