Jedi Training Academy: got a call from guest services

I don't doubt that it is happening. I am 99% sure that it is. I was just trying to point out, that despite people saying it is now confirmed. It is not really confirmed as Disney has not publicly said anything. I know CMs on the phone have "confirmed" but you don't need to look at these boards too hard to realize how something a phone CM says should not be taken as confirmation of anything.
I 100% agree with this statement. I never do, that's why I look at Disney's Audition page and what CM involved with the actual show were told

I think it's as "confirmed" by Disney as many things ever get. Like the other poster said, there are other things leaving that haven't been publicly announced by Disney, but they are still ending. If the JTA entertainment CMs have been told their last day is October 3rd, as the PP indicated, then that's confirmation IMO.

On a separate note - is JTA closing in Anaheim as well? or is this just in FL for right now?

Come on guys, rides and shows are treated differently than side stage acts and meet & greets. Comparing Duffy the Bear or Mulch, Sweat, & Shears to something like JTA is sort of silly. Disney isn't going to make a public confirmation if the Dapper Dans are going on a month long hiatus. And the only Meet & Greets that would get any type of forewarning are the ones that can be fast passed.

JTA on the other hand is listed as a primary show for the parks. So yes, we can expect an "official" (as in, not just coming from a CM) announcement from Disney in regards to it.

The amount of assumption that floats around in the vacuum of specific knowledge is sort of nuts. It was back in May or June that Dusney forgot to put out a January Calendar with EMH hours on it, and so the board had several folks automatically jump to the conclusion that they were eliminating EMH. It wasn't until a few weeks later when Disney got the proper calendar released that people backed down from their wild assumptions.

In this case, until Disney makes an announcement in regards to JTA, it is *not* OFFICIALLY confirmed.

It makes sense right, for Disney to officially announce these closing or changes, but they don't. Apart from the examples I gave take the Backlot Tour, it was never officially announced through their DPB to be closing, we all knew because all the CM were gathered and told 3 weeks before that they were closing.

So if JTA is no longer performing on October 4th, and there's been no announcement from Disney, then will it be considered official?

I don't say that in any kind of snarky way, I am honestly wondering what will be considered official if (imo, when) no announcement is made. It is not unheard of for Disney to not publicly announce when they are closing things.

Cast members *who are in the show* have been given notice that the show is over. Not phone CMs..the people who are in the show. That's pretty official, IMO.

I wonder how official it feels to the CMs who were told to clean out their lockers. I'm sure they're thinking because the all-knowing Disney Parks Blog hasn't said anything about it that they really do have jobs come October 4th.

There is no reason to get mean or snarky with people for expressing their opinion. Not everyone has to look at things the same way.

I don't think @jtowntoflorida was being mean. She was stating facts in response to a PP poster who stated it was "nuts" that "assumptions" floated around.

I still believe hard facts such as what jtown stated. Clearing out JTA lockers by the evening of October 4th in preparation for the new show is the most telling fact that JTA will no longer exist... no nuts or assumptions involved at all.

There are countless examples of assumptions and unsubstantiated rumors on these boards. I am often a skeptic. Based on my information and experience however, JTA's impending closure and "reimagining" is one that I have complete confidence in coming true, and very soon. Take that however you like.

Yep. They held auditions at the beginning of the month for the "reimagined Jedi Training Academy".

Test Track closed to make way for Tron Track a couple of years back. As I recall, if there was an official announcement for that at all it came out only a week or two before it went down.

ETA: The relevant threads are closed so I won't link them, but it seems that even the day before TT closed for 6 months that it was not announced. It's not all bad though, the replacement Test Track Singers were a huge hit.

For some, they will need pictures of the attraction behind a scrim before they believe it and even then if it's not DPB, it's still not true.

One of my good friends worked on this show. I am 100% sure it is closing, he has been reassigned and will be moving in the next couple of weeks.

Disney isn't very good at announcing things in a timely fashion. For those criticizing "assumptions" being made, if Disney doesn't actually make an official announcement, what will it take to convince you JTA is closing?!

I don't think the closure of Dream Along with Mickey was confirmed by the Disney Parks Blog, either. I would classify that as a "major stage show."

I suppose I am simply saying that lack of information has often sent folks to assume the worst. I don't know how valid these reports about CM's being told to clean out their locker's are. It honestly doesn't sound quite right to me. Is this suggesting they have all been fired/laid off? Wouldn't Disney simply relocate them elsewhere? I don't trust CM's on the phone at all. I have been given so much incorrect information from them that it is just silly.

Also, it may only be half the story. Maybe Cast Members were told the show is over, but not exactly when. Or maybe THAt show is over and a different one is starting. My whole point is there are a lot of variables, and while one perfectly valid scenario is that the entire thing shuts down on oct 4th and goes away forever, there is nothing official to support that. Just anecdotes and "I know someone who said" situations.

I wasn't saying that I had any secret info that it wasn't going anywhere. Or that I knew for sure Disney *would* make an official announcement. I was simply pointing out that there is a lot of speculation here, and I have seen that sort of thing lead nowhere enough times that I prefer to wait for something better than "A cast member told me"....

There are no show times showing in MDE after October 3rd. A CM who posts here on the boards regularly posted that there are no internal work schedules for JTA showing on the Hub after October 3rd. Several of us know CMs who work in JTA, and those friends have told us that they have been told that their JTA assignments end October 3rd and that they should clean out their DHS lockers then. Some are being assigned to other roles, sure, but not necessarily at DHS, which as we all know doesn't have an excess of entertainment offerings right now, particularly for people who are 6+ feet tall. :)

This is the same thing that I am saying. Once it is announced to be closing, or once it is closed, then I will consider it confirmed. Until then, I am considering it a rumor. A rumor that has a very high likelihood of being true, but a rumor nonetheless.

There are several things not showing up after October 3rd such as meet and greets, Citizens of Hollywood, etc. Once I see that JTA is left off this once everything else has been updated, I'll believe it. Until then, I'm joining Team Rumer.

When CM are told to clear their locker, when they see the new names of characters that will take their place, when they are doing several open call auditions in Orlando and New York for a new re imagined JTA and when it's not on the schedule anymore we can move past the RUMOR word and say that it is closing...what will become of it is another question. But we know for sure that it is closing.
It's like saying when they called all of Backlot Tour CM and gathered them to tell them that the attraction was closing in 3 weeks, not to believe them because it wasn't officially announced
