My boys (3 & 6) want Jedi costumes this year.

Has anyone purchased any kind of Jedi costumes from the stores at Disneyland?

I'm wondering if they are anything like the ones that are being sold everywhere else (target, toys r' us, walmart, etc) or if the quality is better.

If so, how much is the price range?

Thanks guys,

We haven't bought one, b/c they are polyester, don't seem to be of any better quality than getting it somewhere else, and they are big bucks.

I'd buy from disneyshopping ahead of time, or buycostumes, or make something...but that's just me. And it's me thinking of DS, b/c he gets super-hot in poly...at 3 he had a Sportacus (from LazyTown) costume that he could only wear 10 minutes at a time he'd get so sweaty in it!

I am 99% sure they are the same ones available everywhere else. Except at about twice the price :lmao:

My ds was Luke Skywalker last year and it was really easy! Take one karate uniform (availabel at many second hand stores), make 'utility belt (I covered a wide belt with brown felt), brow boots (again, I covered rain boots with brown felt), add one light sabre=Luke Skywalker.

I too agree that they are the same 'ol packaged costumes you can find everywhere, and yes most likely more expensive.

I also agree that you could put together something a lot nicer if you piece it yourself with the help of thrift stores. I think it's sad that kids now a days aren't really willing or open to other costume ideas, they just want to be whatever is popular or has been really hyped. I have a feeling we're going to see a ton of superheroes. I tried to talk my friend's 5 year old into being the main character from the UP movie and tie a bunch of balloons to him, but he decided to go with Wolverine instead :sad2: .

We have them. They are made by Rubies costumes, not the higher quality Disney park costumes you might be used to. Honestly, they aren't great--especially for the price (approx. $50). Luckily I sew because I had to go and reinforce all of the seams because they started coming undone even after just one use. I plan to make them some Jedi costumes as soon as these ones are no longer usable because I havne't been able to find them a good-quality Star Wars costume anywhere. However, my kids do love them and they don't know the difference.

Also, thse costumes are great to wear to get your kids noticed and increase their chances of getting picked for the Jedi Training Academy.

Just wanted to thank snickerboo for the "How To Make Your Own Luke Skywalker Costume." directions I was dreading having to buy a cheap costume for my 5 year old.

Grim_Grinning_Girl- I love the UP costume idea. I suggested it to my DS and he said no, too. Fortunately, we came to an agreement and Luke Skywalker it is!
