Jeans in the parks?

I wear jeans in the summer months as well with no issue - but I have shorts for my Disney trips. No way am I running around WDW in jeans!

Hey there! Differing opinion here!

I would/could and do wear jeans at WDW during October. I wear the lighter weight jeans that have a small percentage of Lycra in them and I am fine. I think they are Levi's 505 jeans. Let me know if you'd like me to look for certain.

Only negative that others have mentioned--if you get wet (Kali River Rapids) your jeans will *never* dry.

As you are used to wearing the all the time in comparable summer heat, chafing that others mentioned should not be an issue.

BTW, I am from Frankfort!

We go every August and from what I understand, the temps aren't much different between Aug and Oct. The thought of wearing jeans when we usually wear the lightest, shortest clothes possible (moisture wicking shorts and tank tops) makes me :faint:! And I'm a 5'1" 105 lb woman who is ALWAYS freezing wherever I go. Except at Disney. Walking around all day in the heat and humidity is killer. We don't even pack a pair of pants (capris on the plane for me) or anything black-colored!

However, that being said, if you're used to wearing jeans in the heat and humidity, you'd probably be fine.

I'm a jeans guy 100% when not at work. WDW is my one exception, but then I've only ever been during June or August. If I were taking an October trip, I would probably go with jeans and have a couple pairs of shorts packed just in case.

This year we're going in December and I'm absolutely planning jeans all the way.

I'm doing a mini trip in October and will be wearing jeans (fairly light ones / fairly loose ones). This will be my third time in October doing this. Note that we won't be doing water rides. I've never had a problem. Note too that I am doing two park days only (short trip). Now it is very true that denim is a poor material if you get wet and not the greatest for sweating and October is still quite humid. Still I'm happiest and most comfortable wearing jeans. // What I do just in case it rains or I'm uncomfortable with the heat and humidity is that I throw a pair of very light quick dry slacks in my back pack that I could change into (the kind people wear in places like Costa Rica for hiking) typically purchased at an outdoor clothing store (not sure what store I got these at, but think stores like REI, eddie bauer catalog, Bass Pro catalog - places you might shop for an outdoorsy type of trip to a hot humid rain forest where you want to cover up). If my itinerary includes water rides and/or at SeaWorld I'm planning on sitting in the splash zone I wear the quick dry slacks rather than the jeans. I only on these three October trips when I started with the jeans changed into the other once and that was when DS had a spur of the moment idea to sit up front in the splash zone at the Shamu show. While he saved me a seat I changed to the quick dry pants in the bathroom and put on a rain poncho too. My jeans then went into my backpack. The quick dry slacks are also what I use as a cover up when I go to the pool or beach.

For longer trips in March I've done jeans too. Note that it is less humid in March and I was quite comfortable in them. You sweat way more in October than March.

Now Manual Antonio Costa Rica was an entirely different story. This place was too hot and humid even for me to wear jeans, and smartly for this trip I invested in three pair of the quick dry slacks, enough so I could wash out and dry a pair each day to keep me stocked up. That might not be a bad way to go for a longer October trip in Central Florida too.

I don't do shorts or capris. I do for tennis, though, wear tennis skirts.

Just a few thoughts for you.

I'll be at SeaWorld on October 19th and at Epcot late afternoon / evening on October 20th. And if you are there, I'll be the person in jeans carrying the quick dry pants in the back pack and rain ponchos in the back pack for the whole family too.

Have fun.

Here's my suggestion:

Today or tomorrow, while you can still find them in the stores, pick up a pair of shorts... denim if you choose.

They're your just-in-case-WDW-feels-hotter-than-the-face-of-the-sun backup. If it turns out that you don't need them, donate them to charity.... I'm guessing that returns will be an issue. If you do need them, you can probably get more than one wearing from a pair of denim shorts before you wash them, and the resorts all have washers and dryers.... you can throw them in, go for a swim while they wash and dry, and be good to go.

As much as I love sun and heat, I wouldn't consider wearing jeans in WDW. Then again, we go in August.
