Jeans in the parks?

I'm wondering if I will seriously regret wearing long demin jeans to the parks on our trip in early October.

Early October is really no different than August. Maybe 2 or 3 degrees and likely similar humidity.

The humidity doesn't typically start to "ease" a tad bit until Halloween, and sometimes not until mid November.

I'd have a backup plan. Bring/wear your jeans but also bring something lighter just in case. We are Northeast people always in jeans. My family tells me that my best advice was to leave the jeans home when going to Florida.

I always wear jeans in WDW. And I always get soaked on the wet rides. They dry. I think you will be fine.

Hey from another Kentucky girl :hippie:

Early October can still be very warm--even hot. I'm thinking that the biggest issue with jeans would be if you got wet, rain or water rides. Having chaffed inner thighs and trying to walk the distances required could make for a very miserable vacation.

This happened to me on our last trip after riding Kali (on our arrival day). I was in SO much pain the entire trip and had open, oozing sores by the time we got back to the resort. Quite honestly, it ruined our vacation because I was in so much pain with every step I took. I had scabs for 2 weeks after we returned home. Never again!!

Count me as another person who has worn jeans at WDW in all seasons. I wear other clothes too, but I usually pull out the jeans at least once every trip. Like a pp said, if they get wet, they'll dry, lol.

Another jeans all the time girl here. I wore them the first day we were in the parks (mid May) and switched to denim capris for the remainder of the trip. The jeans were not unbearable and I could have worn them all week if I really wanted to, but was much more comfortable in the capris.

Count me as one more jeans all the time girl, plus I'm pooh sized as well. I have no problems wearing them year round, however, I don't ride the "wet rides" so walking around soaked isn't an issue for me. I will say there have been times I've been very hot, but that's when I find a shady or cool corner and do some people watching until I'm cooled off! I do try to wear lighter weight jeans when it's really hot.

I wear jean capris every trip. I've also worn jeans, but usually in December or January, not October.

Jeans would be miserable if you went on a ride and got wet (Kali, Splash especially). I'd reconsider wearing them, at least for the days you plan to ride any water-related rides.

As a fellow jeans-and-tshirt gal, I must advise to definitely buy a pair of shorts or at least non-denim capris for your trip. Are you going to go on Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, or possibly get caught in a passing rainstorm? While Splash is not a drenching ride, I've seen folks in February coming off KRR completely soaked! You probably already know how this works but I wore jeans one time, got soaked on a ride and was miserable the rest of the day with the denim sticking to my legs. If nothing else you'll at least have the option for something else if you bring a pair just in case.

<--- Jeans and T-Shirt guy here. I've only worn T-Shirt and Jeans to the parks myself. And I have never had a problem. I don't even mind getting drenched on Kali River Rapids because the sun always dries the water right up within 30 mins! It gets ridiculously humid though, so be prepared to jump in the shower when you get back to your resort!!! ;)

I also wear jeans to the parks (DH does too). Granted, we go in Dec - Feb, but I wear jeans to the Zoo in the summer when it's 80 degrees without issue. I think you'll be fine. If you're worried, try to find a pair of capris or shorts to bring as a backup, just in case.

Worst case scenario, Disney does sell clothes. Expensive? Perhaps, but it is an option.

If you wear jeans, I would bring lightweight pairs with lots of stretch. People are not kidding about the chafing. Even if you avoid water rides, you still might get caught in a freak downpour. It's not uncommon in the fall.

My best suggestion would be to bring some backup. Pack a few pairs of jeans, but also pack a pair or two of shorts, a pair of capris, etc. I am a jeans and capris kind of person too (and as a result my legs are practically see-through), but at WDW in the fall I break out the shorts and flaunt my white legs with pride! It isn't the heat that kills you as much as the humidity.

Oh, and speaking of freak downpours, a word of advice: Don't wear thin white pants or shorts. I only made that mistake once. :headache:

Normally in I would not bring jeans to FL in warm months, but last summer we happened to have some and hit a cool evening in AUGUST! I was glad to have long pants. I've also hit cool weather in early November several times. In winter, we happily wear jeans in WDW. So until you know exactly what the weather will be, it's impossible to say if you will feel comfortable wearing them - temp wise. Personal preference plays a big role.

Drawbacks of jeans at WDW are: wetness, pocket space, and laundry.

Water rides + denim (even shorts) = miserable. Skip Kali/Spash- or wear something different. WDW has lockers, but a bit of a pain. Wearing plastic ponchos on water rides is for whimps. Odds are also good you'll have a rainy day. Wet is wet. On a rainy day, easy dry fabrics are best.

More than once, I've lost things from jeans pockets at WDW. Zippered pockets are great at WDW. Cargo shorts, go without, maybe a stroller, a small cross-body bag are options. Each has pros and cons.

Last, this is a minor point, but basically you can't hand wash jeans/air dry them very easily. You can wear them more than once. Depending on lots of variables- sometimes it's great to bring a dress/shirt/shorts that can be hand washed and air-dried easily in a hotel room. Not essential, just sometimes helpful.

I'm from Scotland where it's not exactly warm, and I've worn jeans in WDW in July (evenings only) and September... never chafed or felt excessively hot! I do agree though; I would NOT do a wet ride in full length jeans. noooo.

I've only worn jeans once in the parks and that was in December when we had a 2 day stretch of low to mid 60 degree weather. The other days it was 70's and 80's and I wore capri's.

It's one thing to wear jeans during the summer if you are inside a lot, it's another to be walking miles and miles per day in the heat and humidity in FL anytime between June and October. The FL weather is completely unpredictable in any month. We went once in September and the weather was beautiful. It was in the mid to upper 80's with occasional rain showers. The next trip we took in September 4 years later was absolutely miserable. It was mid 90's the whole trip with heat indexes in the 100's and not a drop of rain in sight to at least make it feel cooler. I don't know that I'll ever plan another trip in September again it was so awful the 2nd trip.

Only wore them once.. in February. It was a brillant idea until it started to rain, and I mean downpour. By the time I made it to the car the entire bottom half of my jeans legs were soaked. I had to head right to the airport so there I was, digging through my luggage to get a dry pair & changing in my car (trying not to be seen by anyone including candid camera).. not my best look.
