Jeans for a small size women & vanity sizing

I thought the "Women's" section is for plus sizes? If so, no wonder you cannot find jeans to fit you. For example, at our Lord and Taylor, there is Juniors? (Not sure that's the name though) and there is Womens (plus). Unless you are full figured you'd shop in the juniors? section, where they have sizes from 00 - 14.

I went out looking for a second pair of jeans. I bought a really nice pair at VF factory a while back. And I was hoping they'd have something similar.

I was sorely dissappointed to find that ALL jeans are now stretch... I HATE stretch jeans. And all the ones in the women sizes had the "tummy tuck" zippers. For me, if I push in my stomach with my jeans, it just hangs out over the top, which doesn't look flattering. And I'm not that big, size 6 or 8.

I try to find Levis because they are more conservative styles/colors. I don't want sparkly butterflies or unicorns on my fanny.

Or pink flowers... Neither do I!

I understand. I could have written this. I find it very difficult to find jeans that fit. I like them bellow my belly button too but not super low rise like my daughter wears. She has given me a few pairs and the one that fit me the best is stretch. They are way too long though and I have to roll them. Good luck in your search.

It think stretch is a must as well, it moves around with you. Not having the perfect length is not a big problem, I can have this tailored, or even do it myself.

Are you serious? At most places they have Juniors, Women, and Women Plus size. The sizes overlap quite a bit between Juniors & Women, but styles are vastly different. For example, shorts are sometimes way too short in juniors, and there are almost no capris in juniors (I like to wear those at work during summer).

I also have a terrible time finding jeans that fit properly. Junior size 2 or 3 fit me well but I look like a kid with those styles.:rotfl2: I can wear girl's size jeans size 14 but it's hard to find nice adult looking jeans in that department too. Regular misses jeans are always big but I am going to take the suggestions from people on this board and try out some new stores.:goodvibes It seems in the last few years the sizes have changed so much that the smaller sizes are much larger than they used to be.

Trust me I hear ya too...I even gained about 30lbs and still the jeans in the woman dept. do not fit me..they are all way too big!! I can wear a juniors 4 but when I go to the woman the size 4 is way too big and I don;t like most of the juniors jeans...It took a week and lots and lots of stores to find a pair that the price was umm a little higher than I really wanted to pay! :sad2:

it seems as though the womens just stop at a size 4 and is way too big for some people...right now I'm on a diet and I don't know what I'm going to do..

the place I found a pair was at Talbots (sp) try them they might help...:goodvibes

Thanks, it’s nice to see I’m not alone in that jeans quest! This week-end I was actually shopping in the US (Vermont), since clothing is at least 30% cheaper than it is in Canada. I also didn’t want to pay more than 50$ for a pair, so designer brands are out of this range. I'll keep an open eye on every store from now on. I'm not sure I'm ready to set foot in the kids department however...

You see, I love stretch jeans. They can be tight & contour nicely my "assets", while they will stretch if I bend, move around or sit down. Seems not everyone has the same complaint!

I am 5'6" and wear a 0 (or 26). I buy most of my jeans from ebay because I prefer the high-end brands but don't want to spend $150 per.I don't mind used jeans. I actually prefer them worn in a bit. Anyway, after being burned too many times, I refuse to buy Old Navy pants/jeans. Shirts yes, pants no. They just stink.

I would go to a nicer store (Saks, Neiman Marcus if you have it) and try on some Juicy, Citizens, Sevens, etc. Figure out your size and start bidding. I have recently gotten two pairs of Citizens for $50 total on ebay. Like this one. Sweet!

Anyway, my advice goes for anyone. More expensive jeans are just better.

You don't know how many times I've said the same thing. I just want to find jeans that fit!

I just ordered my third pair of jeans from White House/Black Market. I have 2 already and find they fit the way I want (cover what I need covered) and are very comfortable.

I have the Blanc in size 00. Regular prices start around $70 but I have bought for less on clearance or with discount codes.

Tried to get jeans at Old Navy, but they never seem to fit the same. You have to try on every pair, even in the same size, because they run different or are made differently. Also, over time they just don't wear well and I end up disliking them so much.

That is why I decided to just spend more on the ones I do like instead of throwing about money on ones that don't last or show my hiney becuase they're from the juniors department.

Good luck in your quest!

It's nice to hear that there are plenty of others with the same problem. On our last trip to Disney World, I was 9 weeks pregnant wearing little girls size 14 shorts. It's ridiculous. I've never thought to buy designer jeans, I'm far too cheap. With 5 kids, there are more important things to spend money on. I mainly stick to the junior department. I feel silly, but its better than pants that feel like that they are about to fall off.

My wife wears size 26 as well (although she's 5'9") and typically buys Sevens and True Religion brand at Nordstrom here locally. I'd love for her to look online, seeing she drops major coin on them retail, but she claims that the fit actually changes from pair to pair within the same size, so she needs to try every pair on before purchasing them. Can't complain, they look great on her and AFAIC, nothing's worse than a woman wearing a pair of ill fitting, saggy bottom jeans!

I'm a size 0 5'7" and I second this advice. I'd also like to add Lucky Brand jeans. They're my absolute favorite!

ETA I refuse to pay top dollar for them too. I've found them on Ebay for $15, including shipping.

What's been your experience with Old Navy pants? Do they fall apart? Whey you buy from ebay, if you don't like the way they look or they don't fit will they take them back?

Most of the stores here call the different departments Juniors, Misses, and Women's or Plus. Womens and Plus are generally the same thing, sizes some where around 14-18 and up.

Within those catagories you can usually find a petite or short section :goodvibes

Well first off, you can try several in the same size and they all fit differently.
But when I do find a good pair, they start out great. Then they either shrink (and not from the dryer - I don't dry my pants) or the inside seam starts to move toward the front. I have some maternity jeans I can't wear because the seam has moved.

It doesn't all happen immediately but slowly over a few wears. I'm just over their pants. They're super cute, just not made well.

On the other hand, I love their shorts and shirts. I practically live in ON!

As for ebay, I am fairly certain of my size so I won't bid unless I'm sure they will fit. And while it hasn't happened yet, if they didn't fit I would just sell them myself. Most places wouldn't take returns anyway (nor would I try to return them).

Makes sense! Off topic, but where are your trip reports? I LOVED the boozin and grubbin' one you wrote years ago! Have you written one since you've had your lil one? Thanks! :)

I got really luck and found Levi's yesterday that fit with a mid-rise. They don't seem to have "vanity sizes" since I am usually a 2 and the 4 fit. I also have luck with 2s at Ann Taylor.

Aww, thanks! I had started one with DD but could never get around to finishing it. Ever since I had her I had trouble completing them.

So, it's unfinished, but for what's it's worth (my trip report and $5.50 will get you a beer at the WS :rotfl: )...Strollin' & Boozin'

I have to agree. I swear I will never buy old navy jeans again. I do have a few pairs of trousers from them that I like though. The jeans... they gap in the back (so do GAP jeans) when you squat down... I don't need that breeze TYVM. And I agree with Vette that they shrink weirdly, I've also had a pair split up the inseam and butt after a few wears. :scared1:

She's not lying. They're all different. I have a particularly hard time because the jeans I really like -- Jjill -- are not sold in my size at the store (size 2 -- which is stupid because if I make my clothes I'm a size 12-14) so I have to order a few pairs try them all on and return the ones that are too big/small etc... Worth it though because the jeans fit really well... Not too low cut, but not MOM jeans either.
