Jeanne is hitting us now and I am home alone and scared

Lights have been flickering, but for the most part they have remained on, luckily for us.

The winds are still about 75-85 mph. The howling is now annoying and I am sitting here watching the fences swaying in the wind. Hopefully, we will be able to assess whatever damages have occurred.

Hubby is still at work and called me to tell me that he won't be coming home until sometime tomorrow. He related that Orlando International Airport was flooded, heavy damage. The American Airlines Terminal Side roof had collapsed. He will let me know as soon as they tell them when the airport will reopen.

If my power stays, I will keep you updated.

Pigsty, my thoughts are with you. I am a major chicken when dh is out of town!! And how awful to be home alone during a hurricane!! I hope she gets out of there fast. I am looking forward to your updates. Especially the airport ones since I am due to fly in tomorrow at 12:40pm. I thought I'd be the 1st in if they reopened at noon, but sounds sketchy right now! We're flying Southwest.
Thanks for the updates! Keep positive!!

They are having a meeting right now and he told me that as soon as he hears anything he will let me know. He knows that I have been posting on the site about the airport.

Heavy rains in Disney and throughout. My palm trees are losing all their fronds. The wind is so heavy, a couple more hours of these winds. Some places are so flooded you can't even see where the roads begin and the water lines are.

Thoughts and prayers are with you not to mention lots of pixie dust. I wish there was something I could do to help. Thanks so much for keeping us posted.

Prayed for you guys this morning. My God, will it ever stop for Florida this year?? Hope you are still hanging in there. I was there for Charley and I don't want to have to do that again. I feel so badly for those of you that can't just get on a plane and leave. Hoping that there isn't too much more damage. Hange in there, we're all pulling for you guys. Careful with that generator!!

Now that Jeanne has moved north, I hope that you fared the storm with out any problems. Here in Panama City, we are feeling the winds and might have some rain, but that is it.

Sounds like you have a very sensible 11 y/o. It is great that your DH is keeping in contact with you. Sometimes even that can have a soothing affect with out you realizing it.

Prayers are with you that you did not have too much, if any, damage.

Pigsty333 my thoughts and prayers are with you too. I hope everthing went well last night and you stayed safe and dry!

I just wanted to add that I hope you are safe and that all of south florida has minimal damage this time. I just barely survived Ivan and I too know what it is like to be in your home scared out of your wits while everything around you outside is whirring and whizzing and howling. Again I hope all floridians are safe. I am beginning to wonder if there will be anything left of Fl.

We survived. Hubby came home late last night and the airport was up and ready to be open today at noon. Lost power on and off, so we basically did essentials. Los phone service and had no cell until late this afternoon.

Have water damage and now it is a matter of getting everything cleaned up, dried, etc. School closed for another day (lost two days) and added on to the 10 previously - that is 12 days we have to make up. How many more days can we give up? Kids are antsy. I never thought I would hear the words, "I can't wait to go back to school, its boring here and there is nothing to do."

Hopefully, when we go back to school my son will have a whole bunch of postcards waiting for him and that will cheer him up. For those of you who have not read any of the threads, they are doing a postcard exchange and getting cards from all over. They had started coming in last week and they were really excited about it. We will see how many more come in.

Take care and know that we are okay. The parks suffered minor damage with Epcot's Living Seas suffering the most severe and was going to be closed today.
