I need a place to rant about something that has been bugging me silly! A friend of mine, who I pretty much introduced WDW to, is moving to Celebration in a couple weeks with her folks. She's going to be 21, and has NEVER had a real job. Her parents do everything for her.

We took her on our last disney vacation, and my parents paid for everything. A couple weeks after, I find out through our mutual friend that she upgraded the pass we bought her to an AP!! I knew she didn't tell me about it because I'd get mad. I mean, I'm happy to have friends who love Disney and all, but I have to admit to jealousy.

I'm 20 years old and live with my boyfriend, work 40+ hours a week, and finished medical assisting school. It'd always been my dream to eventually move to FL, near Disney, and be able to come and go as I please to the parks.

I guess to see my friend, who has ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD, living in the place I want to live, and doing the things I want to do, really kind of aggrevates me. I mean, I am satisfied that I work hard for the things I have, and frequently go on Disney Vacations, but to see someone who does nothing, and be living my dream? It's just unfair to me. I know it's wrong to covet the things other people have, but I just can't help myself in this situation...

Haha! And she wouldn't even know it has to do with me because I'll be MIIIIILES away!

What's stopping you from doing the same? You're young, what is holding you back from going down there too? If it's school, plan on moving once you are finished. There are plenty of clinics/hospitals in the Orlando area.

I had the plan of saving up and moving there within the next two years, but we just had a close death in the family, and being together with all my relatives in NJ, they really convinced me to wait. Everyone I love is in NJ. ;/

You're jealous of your friend who lives with her parents and doesn't have a job? :confused3 Oh honey, I don't care where I live, but I'd rather be on my own making my own living (or at least married to someone who does :rolleyes1 ) than living off my parents.

Nah - her parents are living your dream and she's sponging it off them. You should feel proud of yourself. The reality is, she's probably jealous of YOU. If she isn't, she should be.

Exactly- When you get it, it'll be yours! And it'll be so much better because you can be proud of it, instead of just tagging along because of someone else's hard work!

I'm about your age and I definitely understand what it's like to be jealous of people who don't have to work as hard as I do for things I want (I pretty much don't buy myself any "fun" stuff like new cell phones, a laptop, or DVDs so I can afford to go to Disney w/ my mom this summer) but I think I appreciate what I do have a lot more because I've worked for it.

Trust me, in a few years you're going to be in a MUCH better place than she is, and it'll be because you earned it!

Can you maybe visit her often;) Free place to stay and maybe the parents will pick up some of the food tabs.

I really am happy that I'm doing my own thing, and believe me, I am NOOOTTT jealous of someone who mooches off their parents. It's just that whole, "Haha, I get to be somewhere that you're head over heels obsessed with anyday, anytime I want!" aspect of it, I feel like she's rubbing it in my face.

I'm kind of hoping after a month, her parents are like "wth, we can't afford to live here, what were we thinking!" They moved from a huge house in Boynton Beach, to a tiny apartment in Celebration, I don't think her mom will get used to it, lol.

Thanks for the encouraging words, it's nice to hear stuff this smart from people around my age. In the words of Scar, I usually feel like "I'm surrounded by idiots." i'm sure in a few months when her AP expires and she can't afford a new one, I won't be as jealous anyways, haha!

If that's what she's doing, she's not your friend. True friends try to build up their friends. They don't cut them down and try to make them jealous.
