Dave (jdads2), my DW Jackie (Dwofjdads2), Anthony (DS age 11), Drew (DS age 8) and Sara (DD age 5).
As I have explained on the resorts board we were given an upsell to concierge level from savannah view rooms. We were already given a great rate on the savannah view rooms to begin with so this was a huge upgrade.
Day 3: Crankiness abounds!!
Well, I guess that being up at the crack of dawn, or earlier, and getting minimal sleep for the past couple of days you can expect some crankiness but this was getting nuts. We make an early decision to spend a relaxing day taking full advantage of the AKLs wonderful concierge staff and of the resort. We have a very enjoyable morning helping ourselves to the offerings at the concierge lounge and taking it back to our room and watching the animals. Giraffes, cattle, ostriches and Bongos are just some of the animals we see during the morning session. In the afternoon we decide to search for hidden Mickeys throughout the resort. You can get a list of 17 hints to 17 different hidden Mickeys. Fill out the form, take it to Zawadi Marketplace and get some neat trading cards. The Cms are happy to help out if you find the hidden Mickeys tough to find. We head back into the pool before dinner at Boma.
I stopped to say hello to the famous soup lady from Boma and she remembered me from our February trip. She was kind enough to introduce me to the head Chef and to a few of the other chefs. She wanted to see where we were sitting. I pointed to our table of 11 and told her we brought the whole family. Dinner was fabulous. We all enjoyed the offerings but especially the soups! Near the end of dinner a chef arrived at our table with a plate filled with goodies and sweets. Chocolates, cookies and candies. Not that we needed any more food, but it was a nice surprise! After dinner I made sure we all said thank you! Service and food makes this a must do on every WDW trip!
Since we were so well rested from our day at the lodge and we had gramma and grampa to watch the kids we decided to head to Pleasure Island with my brother. My mom even said she would do the laundry! We told her to use the quarters we brought from home to do it. Since shes doing it well pay. Great!
Our first stop was The Adventurers Club, KUNGALOOSH!! We always have fun at this place and this was no exception. We took some time from The Adventurers Club and went to the Comedy Warehouse. This was our first time here and there were some hysterical moments during the show. After the New Years celebration we decided to head back to the resort for an early night 1:00am! Another great day!
Heres a good story for you. We get back to the AKL and my mom says that she used the quarters we had for the laundry and that the kids really enjoyed the arcade. Oh good, how were the kids Arcade? Yes, didnt you say that the kids should play at the arcade? No. Oops. She gave each of the kids $10.00 in quarters. Now, keep in mind that we saved these quarters for months, counted and wrapped these quarters with the kids and told them it was for pressing and collecting pennies at WDW. These are the same quarters that my wife got searched for because all the x-ray sees is 5 metal cylinders. Yes, those are the quarters that my kids fail to tell gramma, are to be used for penny squashing. They are the same quarters that they go through in about 15 minutes at the arcade at AKL. This story will endure the test of time every time we talk about the family vacation to WDW. Its not until the day after my sister is gone that we find out she is the one who mentioned that the arcade was next to the laundry thanks Sis!!
